De Palm Island On Our Own

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I just booked an excursion to De Palm Island through De Palm Tours, but we have not received our confirmation yet. I did tell them that we are coming in on a cruise ship, and I have been reading that some people have been refused bookings if they are on a cruise. I can book this excursion through my cruise ship, but this one was a bit cheaper (not taking into account the taxi ride :o), and it is a bit longer too and some cruise pax were saying that the orientation at the beginning of the cruise tour eats up too much of their time on the island.

Has anyone been refused booking directly with De Palm Tours if they are arriving by cruise ship? Will they just e-mail me and tell me "sorry, you must book this excursion through your cruiseline"? If that is the case, I hope there aren't any mix-ups where I get charged twice for the excursion!

Please let me know if you have experienced this. Thanks!

Just a real important question for you... are you renting a car to get you to the ferry that will take you to DePalm Island or are you depending on a taxi. The pier is in the middle of "no where" and I've heard that there aren't taxis waiting to take people back to the main part of "town" when they arrive back from DePalm Island (since most folks are staying on island for a while and have a rental car or doing the package through the ship's tour). Unless you're going to have a cell phone to back you up for a taxi or renting a car I'd go with the ship's tour (we usually do things on our own since we're a family of 4 and the price difference usually adds up considerably). You might even want to call DePalm directly to ask them all the questions you may have.

Good luck,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn:

As it turns out, we had no problem booking this tour through De Palm Tours directly. They also provide transportation to the ferry terminal and back again. We may have to take a taxi there, but we will be able to take their motor coach back. I believe it picks up and drops off at the Rennaissance Hotel. The only reason we may miss their transportation to the ferry terminal is because it leaves the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and that is when we arrive.

Just wondering how this all turned out for you. It looks like we will be doing something similar to you. Were you able to find taxi's and or take thier motorcoach? TIA
