sjcruiser Posted November 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2006 I bought most of my clothing this year from Ebay. I got some great Banana Republic dress shirts w/french cuffs that go great with jeans or a suit. A few dozen Polo, Nautica, Docker and Brooks Brothers Polo shirts at more than 60-75%off (brand new). Plenty of shorts, jeans and a few pair off dress pants. All have been hanging in the closet waiting for this weekend!:D
HULA77 Posted November 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2006 That's a terrific idea to buy your tux off of eBay! There are gorgeous formal items on there. I too am an eBay fanatic and very seldom buy anything "new". Good for you! Be sure to post pics of you in that tux!
Sue L Posted November 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2006 I got a beautiful silver crocheted lace formal gown, with a matching jacket.Brand new with tags. It is fully lined in black and is very stunning. When I tried it on it looked like it had been custom made for me, except for the length and with only being 5'2 that is not unusual. Know what I paid?????? First let me tell you I saw this dress in Dillard's in Florida which is a very nice store for those of you who are not familiar with it. I loved the dress but couldn't bring myself to buy it at $300 for. So when I spotted it on ebay I was so excited, even stayed up until the wee hours to be there for the end of the auction. So you want to know what I got it for??? $7 plus shipping. Sue
richnorto Posted November 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I just ordered 4 gowns for my daughters from ebay for the cruise and they love them! I never would have thought of it without this great suggestion! You know teens - can't wear anything twice!;) I think I saved about $400!

laxdef10 Posted November 13, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Just a warning in case you don't know MOST (if not all) brand name items on ebay are frauds. I found this out the hardway. I tried puchashing polo and lacoste shirts and they were all fakes even though they said authentic in the descriptions and in their feedback. I've bought about 5 shirts and they were all fakes, the money I wasted I could have bought 2 real ones. Just watch out!
6inptc Posted November 15, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 15, 2006 We're going on our 1st cruise. I googled tuxes and found uniformalwearhouse.com. CHeap prices. I think instead of buying a tux though, I will get one of their black suits and a tux shirt ($11) and a bow tie. eBay just doesn't list much in my size (6'4", 260lbs).... bld16 Posted November 16, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2006 I found a tux on ebay for my 8YO nephew. It was brand new and he loves it . Wants to know if he can wear it to dinner everynight of the cruise!:D
jdfcruisers Posted November 21, 2006 #11 Share Posted November 21, 2006 We got $300 in airline coupons for $60 on Ebay. You know, they were the type the airlines give out when they mess up or something, but they were going to expire before the people would use them, so they were selling them. Pretty good deal. Dgonza Posted November 21, 2006 #13 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Mickfoxland: Great idea!! I didnt even think about it. So now I just bought a brand new tux off Ebay today. I got it for $69, brand new with tags still on it. It is from a company and I can return it for a full refund, or exchange it if it doesnt fit. Thanks for the idea!! Richnorto: Thats another great idea about looking for gowns on ebay. I have two daugthers they will be going on the cruise with me. They are 8 and 9 yrs old. I am single father. So I am going to start looking on Ebay as soon as I post this.
Shelledpea Posted December 3, 2006 #14 Share Posted December 3, 2006 For young girls ~ i.e under 11 ~try wedding shops at the end of season, especially after Christmas when the new season dresses come out. Most take between 50 & 70% off samples (these will only have been tried on in the shop) If you are truly lucky and your daughter likes an obscure shade these can me picked up for 20% of the original price. I got my daughter a bridesmaid type dress (ankle length) with a fitted boddice & beaded skirt and matching oyster coloured shoes for £25 which she wore at the formal night on the last cruise (I also got her a tiara style hair slide for £3) she is called Aurora after all!! Happy bargain hunting
acowbyzcowgrl Posted December 12, 2006 #15 Share Posted December 12, 2006 I shop on ebay all the time and NOT everything is fake...actually very little is. You have to read feedback and use a reputable seller...I bought my husbands tux for 79 and bought two GORGEOUS dresses which i've received and they are high end quality...both from europe. We leave on the 30th..i cant wait!! Kristie
