lindanick Posted November 6, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted November 6, 2006 I did have fun. My cabin B749 is the best on the ship. Our cabin stewart was Edwin. One of the best stewarts we have ever had. I was not as impressed with the food. Our balcony breakfast was a disaster. If you book and pay for something special, why do you have to have it whenever they decide when to serve it. I know its on sea days only. I wanted it on the first or second morning because thats when it would be the nicest time for shade on our balcony. No they decide that Friday would be the best. We could not sit out on our balcony because of direct sunlight comming into the balcony. We had to eat it inside. We ourselves had to drag the table in from the balcony and set it up ourselves. No tablecloth, no nothing as far as service. If they don't change this setup I will not book it again. Sterlings Steak House and Sabbatinis was the best. The comedian Art, was terrific. Very funny, we caught his act twice. St. Thomas and St. Maarten was wonderful. In St. Maarten we went to Dawn beach, chairs and umbrellas were available for $10. Well worth it. The water was a little rough, but beautiful. In St. Thomas we took a Catamaren champagne cruise to St. John. This was the highlight of our trip. All I can say is WOW. hurwitz5 Posted November 7, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We have just booked the Caribbean Princess for January 21, 2007. We have been on this ship before and really enjoyed it. We love the production shows, but find that the shows keep repeating from ship to ship. In 2006, we sailed on the Golden Princess in August (British Isles) and the Star Princess (W. Caribbean). We hope they have some new production shows. What production shows were on the Caribbean Princess?
jennew Posted November 7, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Did you LOVE B749? I know what you mean about the sun coming in on the return trip to Ft. Lauderdale. We still LOVED this room. We were with Edwin on his very first cruise. Is he catching on now? I mean...he was good...but not the polished steward we are used to. We knew he would catch on and gave him a few hints. cruzwkids Posted November 7, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We're sailing Jan. 21-28 with two young kids. Any idea how the kids' program was? We're also in an inside cabin with room for four. Has anyone ever been in one of these? Just wondering how that works... Thanks.

Has anyone ever been in one of these? Just wondering how that works... Thanks. I did an inside cabin with 5 people-- but that was with Carnival. AN over the door shoe holder is what saved my sanity. You'd be surprised at the amount of stuff we all accumulated during the week. There is only a small vanity in the cabin and it could get very clustered if not for the shoe holder. It kept the cabin organized. EVerything went in there. (get the kind with clear plastic viewing. Had one in the bathroom for bathroom stuff. and another for outside the door for beach stuff-- cameras, sunglasses, sunscreens-etc.
momofmeg Posted November 7, 2006 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hi Linda, I thought Sterlings was good but in the Palm's restuarant on their always menu they had tornedoes patties which was just as good as the filet mignon to me. I thought the food was great-in the Palms-so I felt sterlings was not that great. why pay more if it is not better? Now I am not a sea food fan and can't eat much pasta because of my diabetes so I did not do Sabatinis-but my hubby and daughter did-they loved Sabatinis. You should come back and visit us in the Floataway-we miss you!

lindanick Posted November 7, 2006 Author #14 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hi Jennew, I still have my screen saver with the picture you took of the balcony. It was wonderful. When we first went into the cabin there were drop cloths all over the balcony and all the furniture was piled into the corner. Edwin explained they were painting above us and did not want to drip paint onto the balconies. Edwin has definetly improved. I felt like I was barking orders to him when we were first introduced. I...I...I wanted egg crates, get rid of the bottled water because we were not going to use it, robes, LARGE bucket for ice to be kept in refrigerator. He complied with all of my requests. He always had a smile. We gave him twenty at the beginning and another twenty at the end in addition to the normal tip. We noticed after all the furniture was put back in place that we had no table. The only table we had out there was the little round table. How were we to eat on this little table. He went to his supervisor and was able to find a table for us. He had to put it together. It worked. Look at my pictures http://community.webshots.com/user/lindanick101 The big production shows were Kimika, Piano man, Thats all I remember. New York1414 Posted November 7, 2006 #15 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hey, we recently got back from the CB (10.21-10.28), and interestingly enough we had Edwin too! He was really nice and accomodating, we stayed in a staterm B741. It was our first cruise. And I'm dying to return. Thanx for telling us about your trip. Clipper Posted November 7, 2006 #16 Share Posted November 7, 2006 When you went to St. Martin were you all on ship time or had the ship set the clock forward to account for the extra hour to match the island's time? Also did you dock or tender at St. Martin? Thanks for any information.

lindanick Posted November 7, 2006 Author #19 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We did have to adjust our clocks. The first night out we had to jump forward one hour. On the return we had to change our clocks again. In St. Maarten we docked. I had hoped we would have backed in (Because of the location of our cabin). However I think it has something to do with the tides. All the ships pulled in forward. Its a nice pier area. Music, stores, taxi stand, and of course a bar. I am so soooooooooooorry its over. At least I have the Freedom to look forward to. Linda :)
DD Posted November 7, 2006 #20 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hi Linda--please tell me about the champagne catamaran sail. Did you do the 1/2 day one? Do you know what company ran it? Did they serve painkillers (the tropical drink that looks like a pina colada with nutmeg on top) or just your typical rum punch? About how many people were on the boat? Thanks, in advance, for taking a minute to answer :)

I was on this ship in march 2005, and will be going again in April. We have sailed both princess and royal caribbean. Both have awesome kids' programs! Thanks, in advance, for taking a minute to answer :) This tour was one of the highlights of the cruise. We met on the pier at 9:05am. Rode a safari bus to the dock. Very close to red hook. Took about 30 minutes to get there. The boat we were on was called the Adventurors. I do not know the name of the company because we bought it from Princess. After getting out of the dock area, they put up the sails. The water was the most beautiful color of blue. When we arrived at Honeymoon beach on St. John they gave the instructions on snorkling. Because we were not interested in snorkling they took us by rubber dingy to the beach. It was the most beautiful beach I had ever been too. I live in Florida and have travelled to Hawaii, but nowhere have I ever seen such a beautiful beach. We stayed in the water the whole time there. They sound the horn three times to indicate its cocktail time and time to set sail. The rubber dingy picked us up and took us back to the boat. They did have pain killers. What a good drink. I'm looking for the recipe. They served beer also, Had cheese, fruits, bread and all different chips. We got back about 1:30pm. Had them drop us off downtown to do a little shopping. (Booze run). When finished shopping we took the cab back to the pier $8 for two. We took a quick dip in the terrace pool, to rinse off the salt water. What a day!!! Linda I forgot there was about 45 onboard :)
junglejane Posted November 7, 2006 #23 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We're sailing Jan. 21-28 with two young kids. Any idea how the kids' program was? We're also in an inside cabin with room for four. Has anyone ever been in one of these? Just wondering how that works... Thanks. I was on the CB in June 2005. My two kids and my niece and nephew (then ages 4, 6, 7 and 8) all loved the kids program. My sister-in-law and her family had four in one room. When you have four in an inside, two sleep on upper beds that fold out like bunk beds above the lower beds, which can be configured as either twins or a queen. I remember my brother-in-law complained that one night my niece (who wasn't yet staying dry through the night) pulled off her wet pull-up and flung it down on his head. Eeew! Anyway, have fun on your cruise! We certainly did. --Junglejane
