pringle8 Posted November 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Hi, We will be on the Summit for a Panama Canal cruise in a couple of weeks and we wanted to book an evening in the "Specialty Restaurant"...The Normandie. Does anyone know when it's best to book this & can it be booked before we leave? I think it's better to wait until we board & find out which nights are to be formal nights as I wouldn't want to book it on a formal night. Does anyone have any tips and also, is wine included in the cover charge? Thanks in advance......17 days & counting!!
caviargal Posted November 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Only Captains Club members can book in advance. No, wine is not included in the standard upcharge. There is a gratuity included but I always add for great service. I would book as soon as you board, in order to get exactly what you prefer. Drew B Posted November 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Actually, there are two options at the Normandie. The regular meal includes 4 courses (1. Appetizer/soup/salad 2. Entree 3. Cheese 4. Dessert) with some extras (an amuse-bouche, petit fours at the end). It costs $30 (if I remember correctly), and does NOT include wine. There is also a wine pairings choice that includes extra course(s) -- I'm not sure if it is one or two additional courses, plus a different wine pairing with each dish in each course. If I'm not mistaken, this option costs $56. Enjoy!

I don't know. I've never been on the Century, but I think her specialty restaurant is different from the one on the M-Class ships for whatever reason. DaveFr Posted November 7, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2006 pringle8, Here's a thread showing the menu for the Normandie Restaurant from April. Enjoy! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=350803
Ships R Great Posted November 7, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2006 Standard charge is $30pp. The "exceptional" menu is an additional $27.50pp. Wine is extra on standard menu, included on exceptional. The standard meal is more than you cane at. Be sure to order the Goat Cheese Souflee. It is a meal in itself! You can wait til you board to reserve. We like to reserve on an informal night, since we have to get dressed up then anyway and that way we don't miss formal night in the dinig room. If you do go to Normandie say hello to Alex (somellier). He is very nice as are all in this restaurant.
