Any tips for parking in OSJ except don't? We will have a rental car and we are thinking of driving to OSJ and paying for parking rather than taxis. Are we insane?

Thanks

Let me rephrase.

I know I am insane. Do you have any tips?

If I remember correctly there was a parking lot across the street from the El Convento (next door to the cathedral) that you could park in. Since parking is at a premium there, you will usually have to pay to park.... and with the cost of the rental car and gas (whoooa wait till you see what that is there  ) and insurance and the hassle...... why not use a taxi..... they know how to get around in old San Juan (the streets are all one way) the prices are fixed and reasonable and they are everywhere so no problem getting one..... and last but not least...... driving on the freeway there is .....well - taking your life into hands...... where are you staying that you feel you need a car ?

Nah, not insane. Maybe a little adventureous.

If you are staying in SJ, take a cab to OSJ and save yourself

the headache. Forget about street parking, doesnt exist.

But if you must drive, there are two parking lots near

the cruise terminals I know. One is Rescinto Sur, across the street. Indoor

parking. The other is Las Puntillas, outdoor lot, down by the Coast Guard base just past the Ship terminals. Parking is usually available at both

but you have a better chance at Rescinto Sur. I have used both

with minimal problems. Just get there early. Remember, most of the locals travelling to their jobs from other parts of the island park here.

Dont even think about driving around OSJ. You will spend most

of the day doing that.
