Maasdam H Cabins

We have a chance to sail on the Maasdam in January. We are travel agents and can get a very good rate on H Cabins. We know that they are o/s obstructed but we don't really care. They are at each end of the ship. Is there a lot of walking to stairs and elevators? Never sailed with HAL before. Any opinions? Does anyone know if HAL upgrades from travel agent rates?

The H are dual porthole (not obstructed}, and it is the HH that are fully obstructed.

see http://www.hollandamerica.com/fleet/deckPlan.do?ship=ma&deck=a&year=next

As far as walking goes, there's stairs and elevators at each end, so all Hs will be closer than some midship cabins.

I know nothing about TA rates or upgrades from there. :)

Hi,

Welcome to the HAL board. If you are using the rates the rest of us use, try for a guarantee, that may get you a complimentary upgrade. I 'm sorry I don't know anything about TA rates or how they work. If you have access to Interline, check their rates.

The Maasdam is an "S" class ship without the elevator bank at midships. She is 720 ft long and the walking is easy, even for me and my arthritic knees. She is my DH's favorite ship, even after being on the Westerdam, he still likes her best. Maasdam has a dedicated piano bar and movie theater. The ship is well-run and has a very gracious staff and crew, definitely a great example of HAL cruising.

This is an S-class ship. Nothing---and I mean NOTHING---is a lot of walking away. :D I LOVE this size ship!

I had an HH on the Rotterdam on Lower Promenade Deck; I loved it there. I had the largest veranda on the ship just steps away; I had daylight and a glow to find my way to/from the bed in the middle of the night.

You are going to love this ship.
