Vines Question

We've done the $25pp wine tasting twice and both times got to taste some excellant wines including Opus One - something I'd never have the $$ to buy. We thought the tasting was elegant, with appropriate hors d'ouvres paired with each wine. We've also done the $5pp wine tasting which was just OK. Now we don't do either but they're fun to try once or twice.

Does this need to be scheduled or do you just stop in anytime and ask for it?

There are two diff wine tastings. The first one is around $7 and just has crackers and cheese with wine and includes a free souvenir glass(that the desert wine is served in.) You'll see that souvenir glass at dinner with the liquor of the evening served in it. The second one can be $25 and sometimes a little more. There will be something in the patter about each one. There will be wine tables out, normally in the atrium near one of the bars and also near the stairs and elevators near the buffet. These are during diff times. You can also ask one of the waiters in the diningrooms and they can tell you when they are and what wines will be tasted and can also take your reservation.

I'd like to know a little more about this venue. Do they have any better wines ?

I believe everyone has misread the OP's question. She's asking about Vines, not the wine tastings.

Jacqueline, Vines was my favorite place on the Crown. I was there every evening before dinner enjoying a glass of lovely wine. To answer your question, yes, they do have better wines as well as lower priced wines on the cork menu. They also have wine flights available, so you can taste a variety of white or red wines. This gives you a mini tasting of sorts. Also, don't hestitate to ask the bartender there for a suggestion. Stefan was there for my Oct. 9th cruise and he was very knowledgable about the wines on board. BTW, some wines are available on the dining room menu that are not on Vines menu, but he can get them for you if you ask.

While you are there, don't hesitate to try the fresh variety of sushi and seafood available, prepared just for you by the sushi chef stationed at Vines. It's absolutely yummy.

Donna5 was politely answering my question about the wine tasting that WeBeGone experienced at Vines.

Sorry guys, I thought you were asking about the reg wine tastings that they have in the diningrooms. I have not been on the crown and until reading another thread found out they did a diff. type of wine tasting.

We know that we want to do a wine tasting. Don't know if we'll go with the "traditional" like you had or go to Vines. I've heard you can do it there, but didn't know any details.

Anyone have anymore info on Vines?
