CJcruzer Posted November 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I just drool over my Mariner mailings, but what cruise magazine is the most popular/best deal/ etc. CJcruzer
RuthC Posted November 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I get the World Ocean Liner and Cruise Society newsletter (I wouldn't call it a "magazine") and Cruise Travel. I enjoy them both for different reasons.
Willsot Posted November 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2006 We enjoy Cruise Travel. A little thin and pricey at $20 for 6 issues a year, but it keeps us interested enough to maintain a subscription.
gizmo Posted November 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I get Cruise Travel. It is not a big magazine but I enjoy reading it. I save all my issues. At one time I had Porthole but as I mentioned in another thread, it was 90% advertisements and had very little about cruising. I did not renew the subscription. Seago2 Posted November 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2006 My Cruise Travel subscription just ran out and I won't be renewing it. really, it has nothing in it that we don't know already from CC. It's like being a news junkie and watching CNN all day and then getting Time- who wants old news in digest form? Not me. Also, in an effort (I guess) to spice things up a bit they sometimes have articles on cruises no one will ever go on- 20 passenger riverboats in Viet Nam kinda thing. The articles are totally boring and so pro-cruise line that they are laughable (really, just advertisements). The letters to the editor are **BORING** and usually written by ex-Navy guys in their 70's or are basically just platitudes upon platitudes about the mag itself. The print and photos are often blurry or crazily colorful- like 1980's Kodachrome. waste of money and time! Just the kind of thing you need to cut back on so you can save for your next cruise! Year long subscription equals one bucket of Corona!
Druke I Posted November 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I enjoy Cruise Travel magazine, and also get the newsletter from World Ocean and Cruise Liners Society (WOCLS). Used to get Porthole magazine, but gave it up. Too slick for my tastes.
RuthC Posted November 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2006 World Ocean and Cruise Liners Society (WOCLS). Yeah, that's it. :o I knew when I was typing that it didn't look right, but since it was late I couldn't figure out what I had wrong.

joeinsb Posted November 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2006 What's this Carla? Corona and not Genny or at least Molson's? Next you'll be saying you don't like beef on 'weck! :)
Rare Copper10-8 Posted November 9, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 9, 2006 Cruise Travel (read the letters to the editor first:rolleyes: ), Port Hole (although I agree with Gizmo) and World Ocean and Cruise Liner Society (been getting their monthly e-mail update by Bill Miller) The letters to the editor are **BORING** and usually written by ex-Navy guys in their 70's or are basically just platitudes upon platitudes about the mag itself. Leave it to those former Navy guys!:D
