Bayside Marketplace is across the street with many shops and restaurants but I don't remember any stores that would sell sodas, but if I remember correctly if you go the other way when leaving the hotel there is a covienence store a block or two down.

There was a convenience store... or a Walgreens ...or something similar, about a block or two away.

I don't remember anything at bayside that you could buy soda at.

The hotel will be able to tell you.

Have fun on your cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will be staying there pre-cruise in March. We are an elderly couple and are wondering where we can buy my Diet Pepsi to take on board. Is there someplace close and fairly safe to walk? Thanks so much in advance for your help.:)

This was posted by CC ChuckyMoe. There are many stores in that area and you will not have a problem getting things you need. You want to turn right on Flagler Street. ;)

I'm sure if you ask at the front desk, they will tell you the name of the street.

We stayed at the HInn precruise and went to Walgreens for sodas, wire hangers, etc. It's a great place to shop. HOWEVER, we had a rental car and drove over there. It's close enough to walk it, it you don't suffer from sciatica or other walking prob:o . Also, would advise only going over to that area in the DAY TIME.

DH has arthritic knees and I have breathing problems, so a walk longer than a block or 2 would not be good, especially with having to carry the soft drinks back to the hotel. Also, our flight doesn't get in until 6:00, so this would be an evening walk to the store. Is this a dangerous area? I know that even a few blocks one way or the other can turn a relatively safe area into a more dangerous one.

Yes, it can be dangerous at night. There are lot of street people hanging around that area at night. Being older and not able to get around quickly, you may be a target for harassment. I would suggest you take a taxi to the Walgreens. Here is the exact street address of a few of the Walgreens in the

area:

Closest to the Pier:

1 Se 3rd Ave

Miami, FL 33131

Near: East Flagler & 3rd Avenue

This one is a little further North of the pier, usually easier to find.

3103 Biscayne Blvd

Miami, FL 33137

Near: Biscayne & 31st Street

the area on the way to walgreens is not that great--esp if you go the back way. I would suggest you walk there in the morning that you board--there will be plenty of time--the marketplace does not have that type of store but that might be a nice stop for dinner--safer feel in there as it is a mall type area!

You guys are the greatest! Even though the Pepsi products in the vending machines at the hotel will come at a premium price, that probably won't much more than the cab fare (if as much), so I'm thinkin' I'll just buy some to get me to our first port. Thanks so much for all the info and suggestions!:D
