Private tours Zihuatanejo and Manzanillo?

We have already been to these ports and I am looking for some private tour guides instead of the ship tours. I have read the thread on Rosie in Acapulco, but have not read about any guides in Zihuatanejo or Manzanillo. Does anyone have any knowledge or ideas?

depends on what you want to do, in manzanillo audencia beach is nice,,just take a taxi there.. we loved it,, nice water. nice resturants and vendors.. etc

Paco from Chimaltours has made arrangements for us to go to the Turtle Santuary on a Monday when they are closed, he says it will be open just for us! We will see. The ship offers tours here so I imagine it won't be just for us.....see what is included in his tour below.

 

Yes unfortunatly the turttle sanctuary is closed on Monday, but we still got the chance to visit it.

We are working with the tourist office and the university of Colima to have somebody in charge and make an excepcion because of the cruship, so this is what we can do.

We did these ports two years ago and here is what we did:

 

Acapulco: Cruise jeep tour

 

Zihuatanejo: Beach on our own, rented snorkel gear

 

Manzanillo: Cruise's Colonial Tour (It was fantastic)

Unfortuately, Hurricane Sergio messed up our trip and we did not make it to any of the ports we were suppose to :mad:. We went to Cabo, P V, Mazatalan and Ensenada. Let me know if you go to Manzanillo and hook up with Paco, I was looking forward to that trip soooo much. Now we will have to book another cruise:rolleyes:

The Carnival Spirit was wonderful, we had been on the Costa Mediterranea last Thanksgiving and it was like coming home. I was also surprised at how nice and laid back the passengers were considering it was a Carnival Cruise.

When are you heading south?

when did you cruise,.?? we were on NCL star 11/14 and we went around sergio and made our ports???? that sucks, i hate when that happens..

We left the 15th and were told on boarding that we were not going to our ports, instant bummer! My husband had a co-worker on your ship and they were communicating via e-mail. He said the weather was a bit iffy in Acapulco, was he just trying to make us feel better?

man,, i wonder why they couldnt go around it . .like we did,,, the water was rough though on our 2nd sea day, i actually got sick and ive never gotten sick on any cruise... acapulco and ixtapa were overcast. but warm still, cabo the water was really rough , dangerously...

did they give you any compensation ? just wondering

hopefully that wont happen again...

Melissa, I guess the Captain chose sunshine and calm seas for us... My husband loves to lounge in the sun so he probably would have been upset with overcast weather. What day were you in Cabo, the water taxi's were having a hard time with the surf on Sunday. No compensation, the Captain was very apoligetic. Oh well gives us an excuse to go again soon!

yeah that would be better to get the sun,, i still got a good tan : )

we were in cabo on a monday ,, the monday before thanksgiving and it was pretty rough,, i barely couldnt get in the water taxi, it almost ran me down,, but i was a trooper.. :) im 28 yrs old and it scared me ,,

but me and my husband still got in the water with waves coming over our head.. hahahaha

yes go again soon,, !!! us to we are going to try princess..

weve been on carnival, celebrity and NCL so our friends begged us to go on the princess dawn in march to the same places !!! which is silly but it leaves from SF. and we are about 15min from there, so its perfect, no flyng and no driving to La....

We did our tour in Manzanillo with Paco. He was a perfect tour guide and made this our best port. You can't go wrong with him. He was waiting at the port with a sign and couldn't be missed. We did the Barre de Navidad tour and the beach there is gorgeous.

We are trying to figure out what we want to do in Manzanillo and I came across your thread on Paco. What did you find interesting about the tour with him? Do you have his email? His tour sounds interesting. Did you get to see any volcanoes or natural spring waterfalls. I guess I am just asking for highlights from your tour.

I did finally hear back from Paco. He said that he can 6 people and we will have 5 going on that tour so we will have room for one more.

 

Have you gone to the roll call boards? We do have one for our ship there are quite a few of us that will be there and we are trying to set up a Meet and Mingle for all of us.

We are thinking about touring with Paco on 24 Feb when we are there on the Spirit. What type of tour is he taking you on and what is the cost? From what I read he seems to be pretty good. Anyone else going who needs two more to bring down the price let me know.

I just heard back from him (paco) and he said we could do Colma, Colima, and the turtle sanctuary all in one day. That sounds cool. I've heard about the turtle farm, but has anyone else done Colima and Colma. What's it like??

I'm going to cancel with Fredirico now. I think this tour will be better.
