Freedom vs Liberty, 08/07, WWYD?

OK...here's the scoop. Just on a whim, I was checking yesterday on RCCL. We are booked on the August 12 Eastern sailing of the Freedom next summer. I was checking on the Liberty for the same time frame (Aug 18) and the same route. The only difference is that Freedom stops at St. Thomas and Liberty stops at Labadee instead. Otherwise, the stops are exact.

We are currently booked in 2 superior cabins on deck 8 for a total of $5,796.00. If we rebooked on the Liberty, we would spend a total of $4,596. That is over a 1grand difference! ouch.. The ships are the same, its just that darn St. Thomas stop (which I really would like to see). Is it worth it to just stay on Freedom? I even called and asked RCC this AM what was up with the price difference. The gal told me that Freedom is VERY popular and they are out of cabins for next summers sailings. They are trying to entice folks to start booking the Liberty....therefore leaving the prices lower.

WWYD?

thanks,

Esmerelda :)

I had the Freedom booked for next year and have canceled it to do a Med cruise but I chose the Freedom over the Liberty due to her eastern itinerary. I guess it all boils down to St. Thomas being worth the extra grand. For me I would have to think long and hard about that. When I priced the two ships there wasn't much of a difference in price.

Well...after mulling this over and reading the responses I got on here...I went on ahead and changed to the Liberty. I saved just shy of $900 and I can see St. Thomas some other time. That is a lot of money and will pay for our seapass and some excursions.

I can't wait......I know its going to be great fun. Thanks for all your input.

I sailed on Freedom in JULY, and have been to both St Thomas and Labadee. BOTH stops are great. If you are looking for the BEST beach stop, go to St Thomas' COKI BEACH or ST JOHN'S TRUNK BAY. If you want a nice beach to be at all day without having to worry about driving or booking tours, go to LABADEE :-)

and all the people crammed on St Thomas' streets. Labadee, per our 10/20 visit, is beautiful white sand island (private from the rest of Haiti) 90 degree weather blue seas make for a great time. You have the Dragon to visit (where the Atlantic meets the Carib Sea & fights it out thus giving the dragon's roar.) Great food & drink included, shopping with great works of art, pottery, clothes, all made by the Haitians. A tram which is a tractor towing a trailer that is lines of seats for people. 20 foot waves on Atlantic side, perfectly peaceful on the Carib Side looking at the ship.

We were first off the ship & almost last back. A great piece of work by RCI for it's customers.
