kathyemma Posted November 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2006 On past cruises I was able to order ahead of time a birthday cake for my daughter. I never saw that option with HAL. Can i order one? Or can I just request that they put a candle in her dessert? Thanks - Kathy
Old As Dirt Mom Posted November 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2006 Kathyemma: Yes, you can order a birthday cake for your daughter. Either your TA will do it for you, or you can call that good old ship's services at 1-800-541-1576 and request it. Once you're onboard, if you don't find written confirmation in your cabin, check with the Maitre D' or the chief dining steward for your area in the dining room. And, Happy Birthday to your daughter!:) Karin

nanjoe Posted November 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2006 I was on the Westerdam last week & someone at our table whispered to the waiter that it was my birthday. He brought over a cake with a lit candle & about 4 other waiters came over & sang Happy Birthday to me. It was very fun hearing them sing with all their different accents. My husband took my picture with our waiter & the cake & it turned out so cute. The cake was cut into 6 pieces & shared with all at the table. Traveller1 Posted November 15, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2006 We didnt pre order either--just told the steward the night before--we had a seemingly home baked birthday cake(it was the most delicious item we had for dessert on the whole cruise) PLUS we had regular dessert as well !! kathyemma Posted November 15, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted November 15, 2006 I really didn't want a full cake - it's just the two of us traveling. But since Traveller1 said the bday cake was one of the best desserts I may go ahead and get a whole cake! Did you have the lava cakes? Was the birthday cake better than those? I can't image. Guess I will have to see for myself this saturday.
