We're thinging about a cruise to the Western Med. in 2008. I'd love to talk DH into a B2B Italy and Greece cruise. :pThe 2007 Ledgend cruises looks perfect.

My question is....Do you think they will keep the same itinerary for 2008 as they have for 2007?

Just sent our best friends on their first trip to Europe on the Galaxy. The 10 night RT Rome "Best of the Mediterranean" fit the bill just perfectly. Hits the best ports in Italy,France and Greece. They flew in 2 days early to visit Rome and used a Celebrity hotel package which included transfers. The ship is the perfect size in terms of passengers and amenites. Came back with glowing reviews of the ship and itinerary. Might be something to check into.:D

Hi Maineac....It is near impossible to predict 100% what will happen in the future...but I would think that RC...and Legend... will certainly continue these sailings thru Greece and Italy for at least 2 summer seasons. So much is involved in relocating a ship. It takes the first year to get people familiar with the route....establish the clientele...and get the ship and crew accustomed. There is also a tremendous demand for these itineraries. We are looking forward to our 3rd cruise on Legend in August 2007...thru Italy and Croatia. The Venice and Livorno overnight stops..plus the additional ports in Italy...make it a unique itinerary...and one that is just perfect for us. We last sailed on Legend in August to the med... thru ports in France..Portugal..and spain.... and had a fantastic time. She is a lovely ship... with a wonderful crew. Here's wishing you happy cruising! Carol

Thanks Carol, I wasn't sure if 2007 will be the first year the Ledgend does this itinerary or if it's her usual jaunt...... I'll keep my fingers crossed for 2008.

Have a wonderful cruise.

HI judy...

2007 will be the very first season for Legend to sail from Italy. She has for the past 2 summers been positioned out of Southampton....making Canary Islands...and Med cruises..which is how we came to sail on her. I am originally from Ft. Lauderdale...but living in England for the past 25 years. So I was very pleased to find RC sailing from here.. The first summer..2005...there were some early teething problems when she changed over for the British market. She was first in drydock....where the Windjammer was completely re-designed and decorated..Ben and Jerry's and latte Tudes' added..and other cosmetic changes made. the ship looked beautiful. Legend then quickly went onto the new itinerary... with the main problem resulting from the currency changes... From dollars onboard.. to GB pounds.. The drinks prices suffered initially in the conversions...but all was quickly remedied. This was due to the fact she was promoted as exclusive to the UK for the months from May thru october...as 99% of her passengers were British. Legend was a big success here in Britain...and as a result..they are replacing her with Navigator next year...and also changing back to the dollar. Expecting a much more international passenger.

We had two fantastic cruises.. ...everything ran so

smoothly. "perfect" as far as we were concerned. Last year had been meant to be a one off vacation....especially for me... My husband had no real interest in ships or cruising. But he...actually enjoyed it even more than I did.

This year.... we were totally surprised... RC had made our second cruise even better. Lots of improvements....Absolutely first class dining..wonderful service ..better food..more choices..and all new beds and bedding that were really comfortable..plus lots of little finishing touches. We felt like VIP's...and the ports were just brilliant. We enjoyed every minute onboard. I was very pleased as our daughters were along for their first cruise..and had a wonderful time. I hope you book these two b2b cruises..and you and your husband really enjoy it. The itineraries are fantastic. regards, Carol

Hi all

I am afraid I can't comment on the 2008 itinerary but we are currently planning (have not reserved yet) the Legend out of Rome for 13 days Italy and Croatia on September 29, 2007. Currently trying to get the air tickets situated so we can make the reservations.

We have cruised the Med. before visiting France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, etc. I think it is the ultimate in cruising experience and would recommend to anyone. Let me add that the Vision class are great ships to do the Med because of all the glass providing great viewing while sailing.

Again I would highly recommend these types of sailings..I think it is an experience you will always remember.

Hi Jack...Well said.. I know many people cruise a lot..or live to a very high standard.. It might take a lot to impress them. We have a good life..but we certainly felt like the world was our oyster.. and that we were living a dream on Legend. The crew could not do enough for you. The dining room was elegant...and the food delicious. We were overwhelmed with how lovely the ship was.. and all the amazing views of the sea through all the walls of glass. the most important part for me... was being on the ship... and once again at sea... after nearly 30 years. The ports in the Med were just beautiful..a couple I had visited as a 20 year old..and it was like going back in time. we kept thinking we would wake up and find it wasn't for real. We never expected to get back for a second cruise..but it truly is amazing value for what you experience..and the memories do last a lifetime. We are booked again on Legend for August 11 2007..on the 12 day version of the Italy/Croatia cruise. It still remains to be seen if we can meet all the costs in time..but we truly hope so. It is my perfect itinerary...I have wanted to see Venice and Florence..forever..and the Amalfi coast. Happy Sailing..Carol

Hi Carol

Well our experience in a nutshell is this - we started going to Europe in 1982, our first trip was Athens followed by Paris. From that year until 1989 we made a yearly pilgrimage to Paris; I think to kind of get our heads straight as we love good food and wine and have always enjoyed the "Parisian" style. In all that time though we had never made it to Italy.

Then in 1996 we took an eight day Med. inaugural repositioning on the Splendour which stopped in Rome (port), Naples and Florence (port). We truly fell in love with Rome during our eight hours there and since then have gone back and spent vacations there. Since then we have been on the Grandeur for pretty much the same cruise (including Santorini and Athens).

Well my whole point of this tedious self history is that I believe that if Americans would travel to these European cities using the comfort and safety of being on the cruise ships, and see the beauty, history and culture they would understand what they are missing by not going.

That being said we have not been to Venice, Sicily, Portofino or Croatia and are truly looking forward to the experiences there. I think Venice could be very dangerous (and costly) in a good way of course, i.e. a future required trip.

I will be eager to hear how your August trip goes. Is there a roll call for it yet. I haven't seen anything for the September 29 cruise.

Thanks everyone......I'm sold!!!!

I look forward to reading all your reviews.

Thank goodness we have a cruise coming up in a few months.....I don't think I could stand the anticipation of waiting for the 2008 itinerary other wise. :p

These Legend itineraries do seem to be striking a chord with folks. Like Carol (hi Carol!), I'm also a big Legend fan and am thrilled to be booked on her May 19 Med cruise (including Egypt) next year.. I really think it's tough to go wrong on one of these trips.
