sarracini Posted November 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2006 Just wondering if anyone can recommend how I might get from Rome's center to Fiumicino Airport without taking the ridiculou$ly overpriced cab ride? Thanks in advance.
ab0si Posted November 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2006 Hmm, Rome cab fares seem reasonable to me. It's a fair drive out to the airport. That aside, there is a train from the main station to the airport. There is also another train that covers at least two of the other stations to the airport. There is bus service, also. If you are staying in a normal tourist area, though, the train will likley be a better choice. Paul
NeoJava Posted November 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2006 The train from Termini Station goes directly to the airport and we saw MANY people using the train. But if you have more then a bag each of medium size or larger, I'd suggest something other then the train. It's a commuter train and depending on the time you catch the train, it can be VERY crowded and keeping track of your luggage could be problematic. There are also shuttle buses that stop at specific stops in the city that go to the airport 24 hours a day. We didn't take the shuttle bus but we saw a couple signs on Via Cavour. Ask your hotel where the nearest shuttle stop is. A taxi would probably run 35 to 50 euros depending on traffic and where your hotel is located.
