veryhotred Posted November 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2006 I know this has been addressed somewhere but since I have not flown since all the new rules I do not know what they are. Can someone clue me in? I am flying this weekend on Midwest Airlines and would love to carry on only since it's a short trip but am thinking I can't since I have makeup (which contains lip gloss, powders, etc) and the other usual personal items. Can someone help me with what the current carry ons are allowed and what it not? Thanks.

No more than 3 oz size containers of any liquid and they must all fit in a quart size see thru zip lock bag (1 bag per person) Than includes liquiid makeup, toothpaste, hand cream, shampoo, etc. Kind of hard to do a carry on, not much room in 1 quart bag, I tried
veryhotred Posted November 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted November 15, 2006 All my makeup is powder..so will I not have a problem? I use that Bare Escentuals makeup so it's a lot of little round containers of powder. I found this info... http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/9-25_updated_passenger_guidance.shtm

sailinglisa Posted November 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2006 veryhotred - I flew Midwest the past week and a half roundtrip from MKE to FLL and back. I will say that a lot of what goes through depends on what airport you are in. MKE was good, but FLL was a pain in the arse...........they pulled everything out of my healthy back bag...........and nothing was in violation of FAA rules. They could not distinguish certain items that the people in MKE had no problems detecting.
GoinCruisin Posted November 15, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2006 Also, if you have those gel inserts in your shoes, they will take them... chap stick is okay, lip gloss isn't. You really have to do some thinking when going through your stuff... think, could this be considered a liquid or a gel?? Also, you can't PACK the ziploc bag... everything needs to fit in there so it can be seen pretty good. Also, no bottled water of course :p You would be amazed at how many people get upset about that... you can buy drinks once you pass security and take those on the plane. Guess I'd better pack it all in the suit case to be safe...they had better not lose my suit case or else!!! My makeup is expensive and I love it..lol..yes I'm vain when it comes to my makeup :p well not vain, I just need it..lol..thanks for the info, that helps me decide what to do!!! I read that gel inserts are not allowed...I cannot imagine how many people get upset over that one! I don't wear them so I am okay. I DO wear lip gloss and thought that was okay!!! Guess that will be going in the suit case, thank you for that tip!!!!! I would hate to toss it. Someone is always bound to get mad but I would rather be alive and happy then dead!!!!!! At least we can buy water, etc on the other side of security now and take it onboard. Only thing is in KC everything to buy is BEFORE security...ugh..lol..thanks for the info, it's greatly appreciated!!
