mallbucks Posted November 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2006 This is our first cruise on Celebrity (we were on HAL last Christmas on different itinerary) and one of our stops is Colon Panama. We are interested in seeing any part of the canal lock system and the ship offers a tour of Gaton Locks. Has anyone booked this tour with the cruise line and if so, how would you rate it overall? Thanks.
encoresue2 Posted November 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2006 We took the tour that was a bus ride to the other coast and then boarded a small ship (ferry type -- 100 or so people) that went all the way through the locks and into the lake where we boarded the busses to go back to the Celebrity ship. We loved it. It is a longish bus ride (45 min to an hour) on the main road (which is no great shakes) but it gave us plenty of views of Panamanian life.... definite haves and have nots.....and wonderful views of the canal and everything around it. I don't remember the specific name...but it was thru Celebrity....and the guide was VERY informative. I can recommend this tour! (We were on Summit Ultimate Carib).:o
