Big Reds Posted November 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Has anyone tried/used the digital picture-taking binoculars? I'm sure the quality would be less than a regular camera, but still wondered about using them on Alaska cruise, shore excursions.
Budget Queen Posted November 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2006 I have no experince with them, but I would say they aren't the best idea. You are far better off in Alaska with wide angle, and it is necessary if you are interested in marine wildlife. 10 power is necessary for land viewing in my opinion. So 10x50 binoculars are ideal for me. The camera's just don't have a wide enough field of view.
dustyroad Posted November 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2006 save your money. i bought a pair for my alaska cruise . they are very heavy and can be a pain on your neck ( literally ), you have to down load them on your computer that has been formatted with the cd that comes with them and they are limuted for the amount of pix you can take. the more quality you want, the less memory there is for taking more shots. i found them to be not worth it at all and do not use them now for my cruises. i am alot more happy with my digital camera that has a good zoom than these. my opinion only but i say dont bother with them. Yukon Posted November 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Trying to be both a camera and binoculars has resulted in them being poor examples of both. Save your money.
