ciderapple Posted November 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Just went out today on an impulse mini shopping spree at Tysons Corner. Had to drive 150 mile round trip to a decent mall, but it was worth it. I bought a dark denim DKNY knee length skirt from Lord & Taylors on sale, I may plan to wear this for my flight to Miami before the cruise with my long black boots. Then I cleaned up in H&M by buying another 2 skirts, one black pencil knee length and one knee length floaty chiffony type black with ivory circles on, plus two jersey tops. Then went back to Lord & Taylors to buy some black fishnets and black opaque tights. (Didn't have much luck with the assistants in there, they were very stand-offish and unhelpful, despite my polite plea's for help) Doesn't sound like much, but I feel like I have re-vamped my wardrobe. I am so sick of wearing jeans and pants I was desperate to get some skirts in my wardrobe to go with my long boots. I love a little spree, when I get the chance :) just wanted to share with you all. sharod Posted November 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2006 I love Tyson's Corner, only been there once, parking was a nightmare, but once inside, I was in heaven!!! Maybe I will have to hit it before my Freedom cruise. I live 5 minutes above Hagerstown, there are alot of malls closer, but I fell in love with Tyson's. Congratulations on your purchases. It's always fun to buy new clothes.
celbercrz333 Posted November 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2006 I don't get down to Tysons Corner much. I live in the NE Baltimore suburbs and go to either Towsontown Mall or White Marsh. I love the idea that you want to make your cruise a skirt and top trip instead of a jeans and t shirt kind. But, if you are going down to Miami, will your boots be hot? You will do a LOT of walking. We flew to Miami and had a bus transport to the port of Miami and just to go from where we got off the plane down to the lowest level was 4 stories and we had to go the length of the airport to go where the buses are. It was a LONG walk. Also, while you'll be inside the airport, it will be comfortable, but once outside might be another story. Look online for the temperatures they predict for down there. I don't want to discourage your skirt and top theory, but for the flight and trip over to the port, I'd stick with nice pants and a top and comfortable shoes. Save the skirts for on the ship, you'll stand out and look outstanding!!!!!! Also to get on a ship and walk to your cabin is a LONG way, much longer than you'll ever imagine. Hope you have luggage on wheels, including your carry on bag. Good luck, hope you have a great time. --Jo
lovebug33 Posted November 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Just a word about wearing a skirt on a plane: I know I'm paranoid, but you should wear something that you could easily escape in in case of an emergency. I always wear something that is very comfortable so that I can escape easily. Anyway, congrats on your new clothes!
karen sharpe Posted November 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Sounds like my kind of day! Would you mind telling one of your sisters in Canada where Tyson's corners is?
ladycaveat Posted November 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2006 You gotta love Tysons . . . that used to be my "mall of choice" for years . . . of course, I used to live about five minutes away. Now . . . it's about thirty minutes away and because of all the darn traffic there . . . I've been going to Dulles Town Center Mall (about ten minutes away). Not nearly as nice but a heck of lot less frustrating getting there . . . :p

We are flying in the afternoon before but I guess it's still going to be hot and sounds like lots of walking. Maybe I'll stick to the original jeans and trainers for the flight. ciderapple Posted November 22, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Sounds like my kind of day! Would you mind telling one of your sisters in Canada where Tyson's corners is? It's just on the west side of Washington DC, just off the beltway. A bit of a hike from Canada! But if you are ever in the DC area, it's worth checking out.
