Eagle Beach

I would appreciate your impressions of Eagle Beach, particularly the color and quality of the sand, the same for the water, chair and umbrella rental and snorkeling potential.

Also, what is distance from the dock and the cost of taxis?

Thank you-Jack Diamond

Quiet long expanse of beach, quite wide in some parts. Sand is powder white, finer than sugar.

the same for the water

Water conditions vary based upon weather, time of year etc. Sometimes there are 3 foot waves good enough for body surfing and others it is as flat as a lake. Today is a little flatter but there are waves. Earlier in the week there were "real" waves. Water clarity again depends on wave action and weather. It if rainy season right now (showers- mostly early morning and at night) so the water clarity would not be as good as other times of the year. Decidedly a big factor in Aruba not being a better destination for a scuba vacation.

chair and umbrella rental and snorkeling potential

Personally do not know of any chair or umbrella rentals on Eagle Beach. As for snorkeling, there is nothing in the water here but sand. No coral or rocks, there is nothing to attract them, thus all you will see are the occassional fish swimming by.

10 minute taxi ride between $8 and $9 depending exactly where along Eagle Beach.

The sand on Eagle Beach is great. It actually is just ground up coral, not sand. It is very white and it doesn't get hot on the feet. We stayed right on Eagle beach (across the street at La Cabana) and we never had to pay for a lounge chair and the umbrellas are permanent. The water was good for snorkeling when we were there but there is nothing in the water to see along Eagle.
