you can not climb the main pyramid, but still worth coming to Chichen Itza

I got conflicting info of several websites but as of 12-13-06 the main pyramid was closed to public climbing. Don't let that deter a visit... this is and will always be the granddaddy of all the ruins. Be sure to see the observatory and ball court. Awsome!

 

hopefully in the future they will open the stairs up again.

During major holidays (Winter Solstice), the main pyramid may be closed from time to time - I climbed it and I have to say it was one of the greatest things I have ever done! :)
