Love Cruis'n Posted December 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2006 Doing the ‘ol single digit dance, and looking at excursions. Has anyone done the helmet dive and can you tell me if you thought it was worth it? My only fear is that it only lasts for a very short time (i.e.10 minutes) under water with the helmet. What was your experience? Also want to try “Power Snorkeling.” Looks like St. Thomas or Aruba is where it is offered. I’m a novice at snorkeling, but really like it a lot. Not a great swimmer, but I haven’t drowned yet:eek:. I figure with the life vest there's not much to worry about. Again, about how long do they let you 'power snorkel' before they take their cool toy back? Anybody do either of these, and what can you tell me. Many thanks, :) Terry
dbdave Posted December 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2006 We did the SeaTrek helmet dive in Aruba and it was pretty cool. It lasts a little longer than 10 minutes, maybe 20. If you have never done it, it's probably worth the price. The place where the helmet dive is located is called DePalm island. This place was very much worth the price. They had all inclusive drinks, food, snorkeling that requires almost zero swimming, clean restrooms and showers for about $30 for the day. It was probably the most enjoyable day of our week! DePalm has their own transportation from about anywhere on the island of Aruba.
