Golden Princess Southern Caribbean

Recommended Posts

OK. Everything is booked except dives.....

We will be going to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Grenada, Isla Margarita, and Aruba.

We want to make dives (two tank) at two or three of these stops.

If you have been diving on any of these, please share your experiences, the dive operators name, your rating of them, and contact info if you would dive with them again. We have four divers and possibly two snorkelers.

Thanks

I have been diving in St. Thomas and Aruba, so I'll only address those two spots.

In St. Thomas, if you are traveling with a mixed group of divers and non-divers,and want to stay together, a shore dive at Coki Beach is both fun and cost effective. Contact http://www.cokidive.com/ . If is just divers, I don't think you will go wrong with Chris Sawyer dive center or http://www.admiraltydive.com/

On Aruba I went with a small operator, http://www.divearuba.com/ I had a good time and wouldn't mind going with them again. Picked up from the ship and returned after the diving. I also did an afternoon dive with http://www.pelican-aruba.com/ because I had time in port and because I wanted to see the over-hyped Antilla Wreck a W.W.II German freighter that was scuttled by her captain. Best wreck in the Caribbean, NOT. It was interesting, but the visibility that afternoon was pretty poor, even by my standards and there just wasn't that much growth on it considering how long she has been down. I guess it would be a decent snorkel, but there ARE better wrecks to dive, even on Aruba. Pelican was also a decent operator. They use a much larger boat and therefore have the capability of taking a much larger group out diving. I like smaller groups.

Do you know what size tanks these operators use?.... I have heard one of the St. Thomas operators uses 50cuft tanks and still gigs you the full rate for 80's....

I have dove with Coki Beach in St. Thomas - a beach dive and had a great time. Have heard nothing but goods things about Chris Sawyer, but last time I was there, we were scheuled into port too late to make his trip. His shop recommended Blue Island Divers http://www.blueislanddivers.com/ and I was very well pleased. Good operattion. Both used regular 80 AL tanks

There is no SCUBA on Isla de Margaritta
