CRNVLCRUISER

Carnival Legend In 2007..???

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been on the Carnival Legend in the recent past that hasn't had a "rocky" cruise?

We are heading out on the 27th and I keep reading about the boat rocking and it being awefull?

I have never had a problem before..Any help would be great!!!!

I was in 7143 over New Years and it was rockey. I went down and up front to camp carnival and that was real bad. On the Legend I would take Empress or lower and Mid ship.

Thanks for asking that question. I, too, have been concerned from what I am reading on the boards re: Legend. Traveling with an older friend who has on occasion had some seasickness. Anyone else who has been on Legend, please speak up!

Have cruised on the Legend 4 times since 11/17/05. Last one was the Christmas cruise. We have been lucky I guess as we have never had a rocky cruise on the Legend. The worse for us was the Glory eastern we took 10/ 05. We did the western on Glory 10/06 and it was very smooth. It will depend on the weather conditions.

Sailed on the Legend last January. It was my third cruise and the first time I have ever been seasick (lasted for the first night and into the second). The seas were not rough, but I seemed to feel the movement more on this ship. Our Valor cruise was VERY rough, 20 foot seas, merchandise racks were crashing to the floor, had trouble walking....but I never felt sick. I have a couple theories.....narrow ship rocks differently maybe? Also, on the Legend I didn't spend enough time outside looking at the horizon, I drank a bit too much the first night and I spent the first morning in the Follies lounge playing trivia (not good to be indoors, looking down and reading when you feel queasy...word to the wise ;) )

Not sure what I am going to do this year. I am afaid to try the patch after hearing all the side effects and pills upset my stomach. I will try to spend more time getting acclimated (stay outside, watch the horizon, cut down on the foo foo drinks) and see if that helps.

Oh and the cure that did the trick for me? Green apples and saltine crackers (order from room service). Worked like a charm and I never had another problem the rest of the trip even when we encountered some rough seas the last few night.

CRNVLCRUISER....we have a great Roll Call group going.....check it out......Legend 1/27/2007 Roll Call

Good luck to all!

I would think the Eastern cruises will be more rockier then the western cruises.

I sailed the Legend-- and it was a perfect ride.

It will also depend on the seas-- does it really have something to do with the ship itself?

I totally agree with that statement - our Eastern and Southern cruises have always had much more motion in the ocean than the Western itins.

OP - I wouldn't sweat it - we heard all sorts of bad things about the Glory being rocky too and it was one of our smoother cruises.

Smooth sailing to you - don't worry about it just bring some ginger and bonine and have a great time.

I was on the Legend 8 night southern in November. Lots of motion. First cruise I have ever had to use meds, but I still loved the ship.

I was on the Legend Nov 16/06 Exotic Western Caribbean. We had a day and night that were pretty rocky, lots of people getting sick and staying in their cabins, it was like a ghost ship at night and it was the night of the Gala Buffet, what a waste. It was the day and night before we arrived in Belize and there was some question as to whether we'd be able to tender off the ship in Belize, thankfully it was calm enough we were able to do so.

Thankfully, I don't get motion sickness at all so I wasn't bothered. I heard it was very difficult to get room service that evening as so many pople skipped going to the restaurants for dinner. As others have said, if you stick to midship, lower decks you don't notice so much. The casino was a pretty good spot to hang out if it was rocky, unless of course you were losing.

We just got back from the legend we had a good time and we were on the empress deck 6259 we only had 2 rocky days but I did not find it bad and I do get motion sick. We did find that at the front of the ship was bad in the folleys or the kids club.

Have fun

We were on the Legend 1/4-1/11 (Western) and there was a lot of motion. Probably more than I've felt for any length of time on a cruise. However, the seas were also very rough and very windy. There wasn't a day that you couldn't look out and see a lot of whitecaps. This was the first time we've sailed in January, though, so I can't say if it would have felt that rough on a different ship or not.
