Costa Magica cabins

Hi Cindy: We just got off on the 14th. We had a balcony cabin #8405. It was more than adequate. In fact I had room left over that I never had to use for our items that we brought. That has never happened in over 18 cruises! The ship was wonderful. Never felt crowded at any time. We are ballroom dancers and just loved the dancing on this ship. Everything was kept very clean. My only disappointment was no lobster unless you went to the specialty restaurant. Have a great trip!

That cabin was right next to ours. You are going to love it. It is positioned on the starboard side under the aft eating area. We heard a few chairs moving now and then, that was all. We have learned to bring some ear plugs just in case we need them. We used them the first nite. After that we were so exhausted we just fell into bed and heard nothing! There is plenty of storage. Clyde (female) kept our room spotless. She was wonderful. It was

really convenient to either the dining room or the buffet---just take the elevator. It was a very quiet location. The rooms seem to be well insulated and the a/c worked fine. There is only one problem....if people don't hold the

doors to the balcony when they go in and out, it makes a lot of noise. Other than that, everything was fine. Go and have a wonderful time!

I can vouch for that location. We were in room 8400 and it was VERY convenient to the buffet area. By bedtime there was really no noise at all coming from up there.

Are you on deck 10? The floor plan doesn't list a room 01a. Are you sure that is not your category? At any rate room 1001, which is a handicapped room, is right at the front of the ship.

It looks like the handicapped rooms are on decks 10 ,9, 6 and 7. They all appear to be larger rooms.

Cindy, what do you mean by "any amenities'?

We just booked a lst minute cruise on the Costa Mediterranea and will be on deck 8 balcony cabin 8327 right by the elevators. I understand this room is a little larger than the other balcony's and it was the only one left. Have any of you ever stayed in these type cabins? Will it be noisy? Maybe people think it will be a bad location and didn't book it .. or they know something we don't.

We are sailing out Feb. 25th.. any info would be helpful. I always bring ear plugs on trips.. just in case.

Thanks.. Never sailed on Costa.. so will be interested on how this is compared to princess, celebrity, carnival.

You may want to post this under its own topic. You posted it under the Costa Magica cabins and the Mediterranea has different deck layouts since it is a different class ship.

I am also on the 2/25 sailing and just booked last week in the same type cabin as yours except on a different deck. The Mediterranea is a Spirit class ship and I read on the Carnival board that these cabins, as well as their balconies, are wider.

This will be our eighth cruise, but first on Costa. I thought I couldn't beat the price when I booked it last week, BUT it has already come down $500 since then. I think they have many cabins left!

We made it home!... Met some very lovely folks onboard an a few from these boards :) However, we have too many comments to post here, but will respond with honest observations if you have questions... we are very happy to have had the experience, but there were some issues that did not seem to resolve. It was unusual not to have personnel smile or acknowledge us as we moved about the ship, but perhaps it's just a "European" way about them.... which was hard to tell, as some 60% of the crew was Philipino!

We were on the Magica last March and loved the ship. We had an outside cabin (can't recall the number) for 3 with a queen bed and a twin (not a bunk). The cabin was very spacious for a cruiseship. I am surprised by the comment that the staff was not smiling and friendly. We found them to be very friendly--maybe because we had the most adorable 3-year-old granddaughter with us! We also had daughter, son-in-law and grandsons, ages 7 & 10. The two younger kids really enjoyed the children's programs (10 year old thought he was too old for it, but he made many friends with others his age on the ship). We were on the ship during Spring Break so there were probably more children than usual. Enjoy your cruise!
