Collission On The Mississippi

How odd. I flew into New Orleans last week and noticed how long and curvy the river is on the way out to the Gulf from the port of NO. I saw all the barges and wondered how they were all so good at dodging each other coming around those curves.

I was afraid you were going to say the Fantasy was going to be out for a while ruining my upcoming cruise on her. I'm glad she's only canceled for a week and it's not "my" week. Poor other cruisers.

A CC'er who was onboard said she slept right through it. From what I have read, nobody was hurt. Just alot of disappointed people.

That's what I read too. Carnival is reimbursing 100% of the cruise and giving passengers a 25% discount on a future cruise. They can stay on board tonight if needed.

Personally I think that is a pretty weak offer of compensation. The cruiseline will be fully insured for loss of cruise revenue for the week and should also be compensated by insurance for the extra costs (within reason) to satisfy the passengers that are missing their cruise. Afterall alot of these passengers will now have to find hotels to stay in for a vacation that they had planned differently. While I realize that this was an accident that was not Carnivals fault they should be fully insured for all losses.

HMMM.........I may have misundersood the above quote. Is this the offer of compensation for the current passengers or to the passengers that are missing their cruise??

Sandie,

That´s the compensation for the passengers on the cancelled cruise. The other one finished their cruise as scheduled.

Mmmh, $200 for rebooking my flight won´t help me much. My flights (transatlantic) can´t be rebooked. The only thing I can do would be renting a car and drive around as an alternate vacation. The American Queen is leaving NOLA a day before we are on the Grandeur. Maybe we could catch up with her?

Getting a hotel right now must be very difficult. It´s Mardi Gras season and it should be hard to find a room.
