Calica/Playa Del Carmen ideas

I pretty much have our excursions on our own time planned for Cozumel, but can anyone suggest any fun family things to do while in Calica/Playa Del Carmen? Thanks:)

Our family is heading to Xcaret. I've heard great things about it and it was the one must do for our cruise.

If you book your own excursion (Fat Cat sounds divine!) how do you know where to go when you get off the ship? Are they standing out there with a sign, or what?

Connie: when you make your reservations for the shore excursion they will let you know where to meet them. If you do not prebook their will be people at the port selling excursions.
