Recommended Posts

What is your all-time favorite Soup on the Carnival Cruise Line? Here are a list of all the soups onboard, I was going to post a poll but it only allowed 14 and there are 19 soups for a 7 Day menu. Ok, don't laugh when I say this but I have never had French onion soup until my Jan 2006 Liberty cruise. I LOVED it so much that I had a second.

So,FRENCH ONION is my FAV. :D

Caribbean Pepper Pot was, hands down, my favorite (served at lunch). It wasn't on your list so I hope they haven't done away with it.

Great question. I've not had too many soups on the past cruises but the ones I can remember are:

Gumbo Creole

French Onion

Lobster Bisque

Black Bean Soup

Vichyssoise

Gapzpacho

and the Wild Mushroom Soup.

I am going to try on our next cruise (upon the recommendation of past cruisers on this board):

West Indian Roasted Pumpkin Soup and Strawberry Bisque.

Another vote for the Caribbean Pepper Pot. Great mix of flavors. I am looking forward to trying the pumpkin soup as well as the Strawberry Bisque. Both sound heavenly!

I enjoy the strawberry bisque, but have asked for it as dessert instead of at the start of the meal.

I like the gazpacho, pepperpot, and vicchyssoise.

The gumbo is definitely not one of my faves.....since I'm a retired chef from N.O., and it doesn't taste anything like what I was raised on.:D

Cotton,

Thanks for the review of the gumbo. I'm from N.O. as well and was wondering whether or not I should try it - I'm kind of a "gumbo snob"!:D

My favorite in the main dining room is

Roasted Pumpkin

The lobster bisque in the specialty restaurant ruined me for any other lobster bisque, I could eat this every day and not get tired of it, it was the best soup I've EVER had.

Cheers, Carole

I love French Onion Soup but find it is 'difficult' to eat...

Does anyone have a favorite technique that I may find useful?????????

>The cheese tends to be so stringy that I

usually WISH I had a pair of scissors.<

Favorites: Pumpkin Soup & Mushroom Soup are so yummy!

Can't decide whether to have the Crab Cakes or the Lobster Bisque in the Supper Club.... leaving on Spirit soon.:p

Which one should I try???????????

-may need to go twice-

now i'm very hungry,

Janis

The roasted pumpkin was fantastic!

The french onion in the supper club was outstanding as well, very rich and full bodied, it can be tough to find onion soup done right, and this was awsome.

  • Beef and Barley Soup With Diced Root Vegetables
  • French Onion Soup
  • Corn Chowder Maryland

I tried these 3 and didn't care for any of them. After 3 disappointments, I had other appetizers instead.

hi,

I too LOVED the Carribean Pepper Pot when i had it on Carnival Ecstasy, but the following year I had it on Conquest and it was very bland. The Roast Pumpkin soup was great on both.

On our first cruise, we enjoyed the pumpkin soup so much that we purchased the cookbooks (copyright 1998 and 2001.) We had our wonderful waiter and assistant sign one of them. So glad that we did!

There are some soup recipes that I don't think are on your list, but maybe Carnival has retired them.

Can't wait for our Liberty cruise so we can try a couple on your list :) .

Hi CruiseinNJ-

From the Carnival Creations Cookbook (I got it in 1997) here's the recipe for Chilled Strawberry Soup which may be close.

Chilled Strawberry Soup (serves 6)

2 cups frozen strawberries

2 cups milk

1 cup whipping crean

1/2 cup sour cream

sugar

Place all ingredients except sugar in blender container. Blend on high until smooth. Add sugar to tast. Chill overnight. Serve in chilled soup cups.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays!!!

My favorite....

French Onion Soup.

I have to use two utensils in order to eat the soup in public. There is so much cheese. I love it.

Love to Cruise.

Julie

I didn't try the Lobster bisque in the main dining room, but I did have it in the supper club and it was to die for! I also had the Pumpkin soup and the Asparagus Vichyssoise, both were very good, but I think if I had to chose one, it would be the pumpkin. I also really enjoyed the Bouillabaisse that was served in the fish & chips restaurant and would love to find the recipe for that!
