Uncle Doug Posted March 29, 2007 #1 Posted March 29, 2007 Anyone have any experiance with the Carnival Vacation Club VIP program. We had bought a membership last year but then used some of the travel points to cruise on a Princess cruise. We did not expect any VIP priviliges on that cruise but did receive returning guest invites to the social. We next cruised on the Carnival Fantasy out of new Orleans. This ship did not have a CVC host and the pursers desk was unaware of any of the benifits. We were not even listed on the log as being CVC members. Finaly after speaking with the Platumn host did they give me some VIP luggage tags and let me now where to wait with the Platumn members. Then no one showd up to escort that group down to the gang way. So far I am not very impresed with the CVC program. Oh well only one more cruise then we will be in the platumn VIP club.
BrendaB1 Posted March 29, 2007 #2 Posted March 29, 2007 Do a search for Carnival Vacation Club. Thread last week about that program being discontinued but they will still honor current commitments. Good luck.
runcassrun_07 Posted March 29, 2007 #3 Posted March 29, 2007 As Brenda said search CVC will give alot of info. One thing about CVC you asked about, which may not be mentioned when searched, is about CVC not on Fantasy. CVC had staff on only 6 ships and if they were'nt there then you were'nt treated with all benefits. The only benefits I remembering not receiving on ships without CVC are no debarkation with CVC member group only, but you are with those that debark first. And you don't get invited to a CVC reception. Uncle Doug I'll just worn you before your search you learn how CVC is changing into another program but you will be treated as a CVC member until the ending date you bought. If you have any other questions not found I'll try to answer.
bonniemari Posted March 29, 2007 #4 Posted March 29, 2007 Besides being Platunum we are also CVC members. On cruises on the Holiday and Fantasy (no CVC host) we have always received a gift from CVC. Usually it was chocolate covered strawberries or canapes and once a bottle of wine. I don't know for sure but I am guessing that on the smaller ships not staffed by CVC that the person at CVC probably dropped the ball-even when sailing the ships that are not staffed by CVC you should have gotten a gift in your cabin from CVC. You also should have gotten VIP embarkation. As far as debarkation I am not sure because we automatically get it for being Platinum.
Uncle Doug Posted March 29, 2007 Author #5 Posted March 29, 2007 Thanks, I found the other thread. Me and my wife Donna are avid cruiser with 13 over the past 10 years. We only found this site just this week.

SMOKEONTHEWATER Posted March 29, 2007 #8 Posted March 29, 2007 Thanks Fred. I will wait till you come back from your cruise to hear how your cvc perks went.
Wennfred Posted March 29, 2007 #9 Posted March 29, 2007 Thanks Fred. I will wait till you come back from your cruise to hear how your cvc perks went. Good Idea, because the Spirit was the first ship that I sailed on with CVC onboard and its where I signed up. They will probably use the space where they used to be in as a Card Room again. Will see if the CVC crew has been deactivated onboard. Stay tuned for my "Live from the Spirit" thread. Fred

Fred Fred, we just booked two cruises for this year today using or CVC points. I clearly asked them about CVC coming to an end and I was told that the staff and the desk will still be onboard as they will be UNVELLING a new version of the CVC in May. He said that they werent allowed to go into details other than the fact you will be able to use points on other cruise lines outside of Carnival Corp. Maybe you can find out exact anwers on this on your cruise as my 1st one of the year isnt until June. Enjoy the Spirit (my favorite class of ships!)
Wennfred Posted March 30, 2007 #12 Posted March 30, 2007 How does that work, live from the spirit thread I post Live while onboard using Carnival Spirits Internet Service. Fred

sparkscruiser Posted March 30, 2007 #14 Posted March 30, 2007 I just spoke with CVC yesterday regarding the termination of the association with Carnival. Per my guy there will not be any staff on board as there will no longer be any sales going on. I was told that we would still receive the priority embarkation, the gift in the room and that the cocktails party is still being worked out with Carnival. He did mention that since most of the ammenities we get are provided by the cruiseline, there won't be much of a difference. Since this cruise uses up the last of our points, we won't be using points for the next one, but they did assure me that they would beat any posted prices out there for the next one we go on. Funny thing is that when we originally booked they messed up the paperwork they sent us and they put in dollars instead of points exchange and we kicked butt! Booked a BG and I am assigned to a cabin on the Lido Deck - so on top of getting a great deal to begin with, I got a $400 upgrade to boot. We shall see what happens when we go on the Triumph the week after Thanksgiving. Fred, I'm jealous that you are going on the Spirit in a short time - I think that's my favorite ship! Been on the the Pride and Miracle, but the Spirit is just wonderful. Have a great time, I look forward to your posts!:)

I hate this has happened as we were planning on rejoining, but interested to see what the "new" program will be like.

mrBit Posted March 30, 2007 #18 Posted March 30, 2007 When I booked the Ecstasy, I was told that CVC would be on most of Carnival's fleet by next year.

mrBit Posted March 30, 2007 #20 Posted March 30, 2007 Yea, I did read that thread, it was my CVC rep that made that statement, but perhaps he meant under the new banner.

You can give us all your live experience and many answers. Do we just look for "Live from the Spirt" under Carnival threads? Thanks Cassandra
