Voyageur Repo cruise on May 7, 2005...we saw cabin 9390 available (Aft Corner Balcony, Deck Nine), and grabbed it, as it has a huge balcony, great views aft and starboard. In this case, it was worth it for us to pay a bit more for what I think is a better cabin location.

I have that cabin booked for later in the year. Can you post back how you like it? Or even pictures would be fantastic! I can send you my email address if you would prefer. I am eager to know how the balcony is!!

I booked an Oceanview Guarantee with Carnival and when my documents came, it saidon the front Skippers Club..VIP check-in so I looked up Skipper Club on Carnival and it said people with deluxe accomodations get VIP treatment at Embarking. When I looked into my reservation on the Carnival webite it had my stateroom as a balcony suite but about a week later, and ever since then, I checked and now it says Guarenteed Oceanview. Do you think I was upgraded and then back to OV guarantee? I'm confused!!

THe page will still have oceanview guarantee coz that is what you paid for. Your documents say skippers club so more then likely that is where you are. did you check for a cabin number on the back of the sign and sail page on the bottom??? Look for your booking number- the cabin number should be right before the * the number will be there unless you see TBA still

Doing the gift method my cabin did change 4 times. We booked an oceanview and one time I was given an impressive balcony cabin. By the time we got our documents we got what we paid for. An ocean view cabin

From what I have found- the key here to having separate cabins with kids, is to make SURE your TA has "linked" your reservations. We booked directly thru Carnival rep and he has assured me the kids would be across or next door- even if we are upgraded they will move with us- and be assigned same dining. I am sailing Inspiration on 8/20 so I will let you know how this works. But I was under the impression kids couldnt even be in their own cabin on Carnival- but he said they can as long as they are "linked" with parents so you are right nearby.

Happy sailing .......

We have booked guarantee three times, twice we got good cabins, once when traveling with others, actually next to each other. (That time we would much rather have been on opposite sides of the ship.) Our last cruise, on the Horizon, we got the absolute worst possible cabin in the category. The back cabin, on the other side of the wall we enjoyed the anchors and other associated noise. We will never again book this way, as the cabin really had a very negative impact on the entire trip. One night, we stayed on the couch by the casino until 3:00 in the morning, only after it got too cold on the pool deck, as we could not take the extreme rocking in our cabin.

Everyone else we know who books guarantees, gets upgraded, we have never had that luck. In fact, a couple we sat with paid for a lesser category than we did, and got upgraded to deck 9, center ship. They paid for deck 5, we were on 6.

Does anyone know if you can book FO (Family) rooms as guarantees on RCL, e.g Radiance? There seem to be very few of them available, and based on that, the possibility of an upgrade would seem to be pretty good. It's possible that you would have to book a specific cabin to get them - not sure. Our purpose in looking at these would be because of size - need to accommodate parents and 2 kids in one (and don't want the pull down shelves) and parents and 3 kids in another. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Like some others, we're not long time cruisers and have a lot to learn, but these boards are great. Thanks. Oh yes, the other thing I was wondering, if they did "upgrade" you, would it have to be to a similar size cabin i.e would there be any possibility that we could be moved to a better "class", but lose out on the space that we want?

Pesonally I would pick a cabin because of the structure of what you need. In one cabin is a family of 4 and the other you need the family state room for 5- By doing the guarantee you stand the chance of the other family staying in those suites and the famioly of 4 moving up
