My husband and I just got off the ship this morning and we were in Cabin 8232. Our cabin steward, Anthony, was fabulous. Any request we made was handled quickly. We were discussing cabin stewards with our tablemates a few nights into the cruise and they commented how pleased they were with their steward. He rearranged their minibar so their champagne would be chilled when they returned from dinner the first night and had flutes waiting for them when they returned to their cabin. As it turned out, they were 3 doors down from us and Anthony was also their steward.

While older photos of the Legend do indeed show lounge chairs on this cabin's balcony, they are no longer there. Nor were they on the extended balcony beside ours either.

This has been our favorite cruise to date. Isla Roatan is by far my favorite port of all time. The island is absolutely gorgeous. We walked for hours, stopping into local bars and shops (not the Carnival recommended shops) and watching the school children prepare for the independence day parade. I would have loved several more hours in this port.

Hope your cruise will be as fabulous as ours was!

I believe a while back you asked me to let you know how room 8232 was.....(if this wasnt you, sorry)

8232 was good. You dont back up to the laundry room like our TA said, instead you back up to the ice machine area for the stewards. BUT, the machine sits back in their room quite a ways so we never heard it. The only thing we did hear was the people's kids next door on the other side.

With the extended balcony, we only got 2 chairs for this long balcony. We were supposed to have 2 lounge chairs as well but the steward said they were a fire hazzard so they had to take them out.....but the people next to us had them. So the balcony was very roomy but we never made it to the other end because there was nothing down there. Hope you get some lounge chairs when you go. (if not, demand them. we asked but were told no)

Also, I see you still have a ways till your legend cruise and I know the crew switch out every six months.....so I dont know if you will have our steward but let me tell you a few things about him: (This is if you have him) His name is Anthony. The first thing he will tell you are his hours. So this was a hint not to call him between 12:30 and 5:30. Our toilet broke twice. (not from us, just on its own) The second time it took Anthony an hour and a half to call us back and by then it was 5:30 (his "on" time)

We only saw him 3 times and he never spoke unless we spoke to him.

Hopefully you will get someone else.

We found this whole ship to be a "so-so" on our list. I havent had the time to write a review yet, but it will come soon and I will list everything.....good and bad.

Overall, make the most of it like we did. :)

We have an aft cabin 8275, with my brother & wife next door in 8277. If we go to Roatan we plan to scuba dive...any other divers out there?

Dear Joke2020, we are sailing in the same cabin as you (8275) next spring. We also have the suite next door. Can you check with the room steward and make sure that the balcony dividers can open between cabins? Cruise policies such as these seem to change according to the whim of the cruise line. Hope you are enjoying your cruise!

I just got off of the Legend on 9/9/07 and had the BEST time! :D

I noticed that the coffee served at the breakfast buffet and the coffee served at dinner were very different in quality. The breakfast coffee was drinkable but not too pleasant. The coffee served after dinner however was AMAZING! My assistant waiter always brought me two cups after dessert. Does anyone know what brand of coffee Carnival uses for their "after dinner" brew? I would love to find it so I can make it at home/work. Thanks!

I have been wondering if this was a port to just walk around and enjoy or if other than excursions there was much to do. I don't know anyone personally who has ever been to Isla Roatan so any info you can provide would be great.

thanks.

If anyone goes to Tulum from Cozumel please let me know how it was.

Going in April and DS wants to see ruins. I know it is a long haul (7 hours).

I would like to know cost and is it worth the $ and time. DH and myself have seen ruins (Chichen Itza) but our DS has not and is really looking forward to them and now we are not going to Costa Maya:(

As I can tell Tulum is my only other option:confused:

I'm not sure if you can get to Coba or not but it is much closer to the Cozumel (and the Playa del Carmen) port than Chichen Itza. I went there a couple of years ago and it was amazing. It isn't as developed as Chichen Itza or Tulum and you get to see a little more of what the ruins look like before they've had so much present day activity. I'm not sure if that fits in with your time or not, but I loved that site!

we had hoped for progresso too, we'll probably go with Tulum in Dec. Just not clear on whether you are permitted to actually climb anything. I've read not while on offical tour w/guide but during free time afterwards you can further explore or go down to the beach.

anyone tour Tulum?

Nervous about booking a non-carnival tour to the mainland:o . We originally were going to Xcaret, believe the few ruins they have are 'reproductions'?

Couple options in Belize; but already decided on cave tubing w/major tom .

afraid to book a non-carnival tour to the mainland

Thanks for the information. I think we are going to try for San Gervasio ruins. Also go to Paradise Beach (which was our original plan). I have posted on the Roatan board asking about SG and cost to get there by taxi? I know PB is around $12 each way.

We will just have to wait until 09 for Costa Maya to open and cruise there as first planned:D

Reno 3,

If you posted about the San Gervasio ruins on the Roatan board you have the islands mixed up. The SG ruins are in Cozumel, not Roatan. Also PB is also in Cozumel. Maybe you just typed it in wrong:eek: LU

i have read through all 22 pages of posts & am now posting myself. my husband & i are sailing december 9! we are so excited! i am addicted to reading these boards & i check several times a day to see if anyone new has posted a review of the legend! anyhow, on to my question....my husband is a vegan & he loved the veggie burgers at the lido grill on the fantasy. does anyone know if they have veggie burgers at the grill? also, we had booked a guaranteed ov & got our room assignment...it is 1124...on the very bottom level of the ship right under satchamos lounge (i think that is what it is called)...so i emailed ***** & they changed our room to 1133...so now we are under the legend's cafe. what is this? does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this is going to be noisy? we really are the type who are content being on vacation & it doesn't take too much to make us happy....however, i take my sleep seriously & i really don't want to be disturbed while i am sleeping! any input anyone might have into the veggie burgers & the rooms on the bottom of the ship i would certainly appreciate it!

I would recommend the Embassy Suites Downtown in Tampa. My wife and I stayed there in August for our cruise on the Legend. They have a parking garage attached to the hotel. Check with the front desk to find out their rates. The hotel is within walking distance of the cruise terminal and depending which direction your room faces, you can see the cruise ship when it is docked. I didn't stay in the rooms under the legends cafe, but I did go there a few times to smoke cigars. That part of the ship is rather quite and not to many people venture to that part of the ship until the evening when a show is going on. I don't know about veggie burgers at the Grill on the Lido deck. I would imagine that you would have to ask them when you are in line. Let me know if you have any other questions about the ship or Tampa. Enjoy your cruise.

When did you get your cabin assignment? We also booked an OV Gty. and don't have anything yet. Just curious. We really aren't expecting an assignment yet but I just can't help myself from checking about every day or so.

also, does anyone know of any hotels in tampa that allow you to leave your car at the hotel during the cruise? i had read about one but now i can't remember where i read about it. thanks!

The Holiday inn Express Tampa- Rocky Point Island. I am booked there in December and it includes parking for the duration of the cruise and a shuttle to and from the port. I have read good things about it. Look it up on trip advisor and read a bit. Hope this helps.

so i emailed ***** & they changed our room to 1133...so now we are under the legend's cafe. what is this? does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this is going to be noisy?

The Legends cafe is more of an open seating area that serves the Sushi bar (limited hours) and the coffee shop (can't remember the name), so most of the time there aren't many people there. A couple of times we passed by and someone was playing the piano, but it was early evening both times. Also, they hold a lot of the trivia contest there, but also mostly during the day/early evening. I don't think you would have any noise issues from this cabin--it would have to be better than above Satchmo's!

Have a great cruise! I wish I was going again!:)

i checked probably a week & a half ago & saw our assignment on the carnival website. i have read people saying something about it being linked to your final payment...somehow when we booked making payments was not an option! so we paid in full when we booked (however, we didn't book directly through carnival)...not sure if it has anything to do with that or not.

thanks everyone for advice on the hotels, i will look them up. also, i am relieved to hear that we shouldn't have too much noise being under the legends cafe! whew! i am so excited, not sure i can hold out! i want to go this sunday!!!

As stated sailing 2/10 cabin 5222. Noticed some mentions about the balconies on this ship as they seem to be terraced, so what is the deal with them, the wife is becoming worried , this is second cruise we did the Glory on feb 07, loved sleeping with balcony door open at night. Also has anyone been in the cabins just above the lifeboats, can you see over them. New to board, lurked for a while, but glad to be here.:D

We are in a cabin on the deck just over the lifeboats, those are the category 7A cabins. I haven't seen it yet, but I've seen pictures and the life boat doesn't even come up to the top of the plexiglass. Therefore, if you're sitting down, you probably cannot see anything but lifeboat, but if you stand up, you can definitely see over the rail.

not sure about cabins on side, saw pics here that aft cabins are def. terraced, with those on deck 4 having the most overhang from above...enough for me to change cabins to said deck!

higher decks have posts complaining about debris from lido deck thrown off back of ship.

Thanks for the replies. I did a search for pics of this ship and found many, got a couple and blew them up some, and it seems the balconies on the sides are normal meaning with a full roof over them, being the balcony above, but the ones on the aft are terraced with lots of exposure from the balcony above, glad I did not take one of those, even though the 180 degree view was very tempting. The Mrs. would never go for it. Is it Feb yet?
