Charging to take soda on?

I read a review that stated that someone on their sailing had to pay for taking 2 cases of soda on. This is the first time I've heard of them charging for carry on sodas.

Anyone else experience this? Did you check it though with luggage or carry it on?

We always check 2 boxes of water and soda (24 packs) though with luggage. Never had a problem.

Haven't heard anything like that. BUT, I'm sure with more folks taking on SO MUCH, and also if they hand-carry them on - well, yeah they probably will do something. I take a 6-pk in my checked luggage - that's not much, but two cases seems.....well.....?

Cotton - for 2 people 48 sodas would be a lot - BUT - there are 4 of us. Some of it is water and the soda is Dr Pepper and Pepsi - both not served on board. Plus we always buy soda cards for the kids.

I always pack it seperate in reinforced cardboard boxes and send them through with the luggage - with a nice tip for the porters.

I had sent a e-mail to Carnival about bringing Mountain Dew on board for future son-in-law. They e-mailed me back they would allow me to bring a reasonable amount of Dew for personal consumption. So I still did not have a exact answer. So we brought 4- 3 liter's of Mountain Dew. My husband carried on 2 of them and soon to be son-in-law carried the other two. All they did was ask us to show them the bottles to make sure they were soda, and they let us go. BTW we were on the Legend out of NY 7/02/04. Good Luck
