Vegetarian food on Star ?

I'm a vegetarian; I wasn't on the Star but on the Spirit to Alaska. I imagine the food is similar on the Star, if not nearly identical in the main restaurants. I even recognized some items that I'd seen on a set of Star menus from 2002 (see http://www.orcatekweb.com/menus.htm). The food was surprisingly good and filling. I'm not a hugely picky eater, but it was definitely nice to get decent veggie food in a restaurant. The only entree I didn't care much for was the Cooking Light risotto that the Spirit served on the President's menu--it's the same as on the Star menu I linked to. It wasn't very filling, but then I was pretty hungry that evening. It was also kinda slimy and bland.

At dinner there was always an appetizer and soup/salad to choose from. The same went for lunch in the restaurant. Breakfast is an easy meal of course, and the buffet on the Spirit had lots of things to choose from. Le Bistro has a vegetarian entree, but we did not eat there so I can't tell you if it's any good. :)

I am a veg too:D Been on the Sky, Dawn 2x going on the star in March.

Sometimes the dinners were a problem for me near the end of the cruise. Not much variety but I am used to that after 30+ years being a veg. I hope that the Star has the veg buffet at lunch that the others had. Great East Indian food:D I could always "trust" the food there.

Just came back from the NCL Spirit (7/31-8/7, reviewed on another thread) and my mother, who is vegetarian, had no problems on the ship. She said that she really liked her meals at Windows; the only surcharge restaurant she went to was Shogun, where she ate both at the main restaurant and at the sushi bar (the sushi chefs made her some special vegetable rolls).

I'm not vegetarian myself but I do remember that there were a lot of vegetarian offerings other than just salad...some nice fruit-based soups at Windows for dinner, for instance. The Windows kitchen will try and accomodate your requests for substitutions, too. I'd guess that the food is similar on the Star, although I've never sailed on her.

If you stop in Juneau there is a restaurant (Fiddlehead) that is quite famous and has vegetarian dishes on its menu (you can view the menu on the internet). We didn't have time to check it out; if you do, let me know how it is! http://www.thefiddlehead.com/
