What do you mean prices are up?

2006 16 night Costa Magica transatlantic: $499

2007 17 night Costa Mediterranea transatlantic: $449

Standard tips were lower, too; 6 Euros pppd last year, 4.50 Euros pppd this year.

there are many instances where RC (not Costa Magica:) ) as I indicated are up from 10 to 30%.......for the same ship, same itinerary as just 12 months ago. I believe I even said not all or 100% but most........those of us that frequently cruise RC are aware of this and understand the situation......

My Canada/New England cruise next year vs. this year......up 20% same category

Panama Canal repo 2008 vs 2006.......up 35% same ship, one less day, same category.....(now granted that is 2 years:) )

As far as the price of cruises, I feel somewhat comfortable with their pricing. If it becomes an issue, there are a few factors that I can control i.e. cabin type and picking different date. My biggest concern is now airline prices as I tend to book aways out and unfortunately I have been spoiled by the prices the were too low as I'm afraid we'll never get the $100 deals ever again. Now a simple flight can get up their pretty quick.

I may have to cut down on my beer consumption in my interior cabin. :)

If prices for cruises get much higher, what we will do is go back to ocean view again instead of balcony or take shorter cruises, though I hate to cut back.

We just got our home insurance bill and it nearly doubled since last year--the cost of living in Coastal Florida. It might be cost increases such as that rather than actual cruise price increases that cause us to cut back in certain ways.
