Starboard v Port

I've noticed on Alaskan round-trip cruises, the starboard side always books up when there are still lots of cabins on the port side. Does anyone know why?

O man! I thought both sides see land the entire way. My cabin is a GTY minisuite but the only available ones shown are on the port side. So the port side just looks like an ocean for the most part?
