Jacquelyn11 Posted August 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2004 I've been watching the weathers channel reports and it looks like what remained of the eye went over Brevard and Vallousia (sp) counties. Port Canaveral is in Brevard Co. I guess we will know in the morning if the Saturday returns become Sunday ones!! Or would they divert to another port like Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa? That's why I cruise in May!! :) Jacquelyn :D
LibertyBelle Posted August 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2004 I am going to assume that it faired pretty well. Disney has already posted a statement saying that the Disney Magic will be arriving in Port Canaveral on schedule and will be departing about an hour and a half later than usually in order to accomodate late arriving guests tomorrow. We are about 10 minutes to the West of Disney World and suffered very minor damage from the storm itself (and we had about 80mph winds...or so the news reported) the eye skirted us, there were some firece winds, but we only lost a few roof shingles and had a little water leak into the house by the sliding door in the back. Nothing major. By the time it made it to Port Canaveral it was much less of a storm than we had so I am sure they did just fine :)

Sea Island Lady Posted August 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2004 I noticed last night - about the time the hurricane was to hit Orlando - that the port cam went out. It is still out. The seas still look pretty rough at Coaco Beach http://www.twopalms.com/.
