Cya@Sea Posted August 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2004 Our friends renewed their vows on the Navigator, It was in the Chapel. I don't know if it was an option to do it on an island? The service was nice. I'd love to renew my vows on an island, I will watch this post to also see if anyone has been able to do it. :)

coach_don Posted August 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2004 My wife and I renewed our vows on a family cruise in October 1999 on board the ship. It was done while the ship was in Ocho Rios and was held in the ships library. The crew was fantastic and we had a very enjoyable time. Little did I know that I would only have two more years before my wife passed. You see, it was not one of the "important" anniversaries but it was done because all of our kids were there along with some of our grandkids. Just over two years later I lost her to a brain tumor and had we not done that back on the earlier cruise, I would have been left with "could have been" memories. So if it is your desire to renew your vows, don't think that it is too expensive (it's not, you are worth it) or it is not one of our special days (I now know that every day is special) to delay it for a "better" time. You can never know when you will be alone with your memories. Don

Marcys Posted August 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 17, 2004 Don, I'm so sorry about your wife. I'm glad that you had that memorable time together with your wife and family. You're right, you never know what life will dish out. My husband finished chemotherapy 2 months before our cruise this summer. I wanted to renew vows on this cruise even though it was only 24 years. He said NO because it should be done next summer. I didn't persist because I didn't want him to think that I didn't expect him to live till next summer. God willing, next summer we will celebrate our 25th anniversary and renew our vows onboard ship. Marcy
dashton Posted August 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2004 Coach Don, sorry to hear about your wife. I'm sure you were thankful that you had warm memories of your renewal of vows. My husband & I plan to renew our vows for our 40th anniversary in 2006 on board also. We plan to have our family and some friends along also. We have been telling everyone to save up and go with us. Thanks for sharing your story

coach_don Posted August 18, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 18, 2004 Thank you for all your kind thoughts. I actively watch this board and I do post my memories frequently since I don't want anyone out there to be hurting any more than they would with the loss of a spouse just because they thought the money was too much to spend and that it would be spent better buying stuff. Memories are the best reason to spend the money. Don
cruzeluvr Posted August 18, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 18, 2004 Has any one ever renewed their vows through RCCL, especially interested if any ony has renewed their vows on St. Martin. My wife and I just renewed our vows last month on the Voyager of the Seas in celebration of our 25th anniversary. The social host who conducts the ceremony asked us where we would like to have it and we decided on the chapel. It was a very nice ceremony and we invited our tablemates and a couple we met at the Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle to come to the ceremony. We also invited them to join us for a "champagne toast and cake reception" afterwards. The bottle of champagne and the cake included in the package was enough for everyone. The "reception" was in a small lounge (Cloud 9) reserved just for us. One of the ship photographers took pictures in the chapel, at the reception, and then took us around the ship to take additional pictures. The vow renewal package included an 8x10 in a silver frame, and we got a really good deal on the rest of the pictures taken. The cost is a little pricey, but the memories are something you can't put a price on.
