powriel Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Has anyone had any success in booking a hotel through PriceLine in Vancouver? If so, what star level did you pick and what area? We are arriving a day early in August for our Mother/Daughter cruise on the Spirit. I've booked quite a bit through PriceLine for other hotels, but I'm not having any success in Vancouver. 8/25 Carnival Spirit Conquest 2/03 Glory 2/
Kathy163 Posted May 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I booked the highest star in downtown Vancouver and got the Marriott Pinnacle for $50. From what I'm reading it's 3 blocks from the pier. I got it on my first try with Priceline. Good luck! Kathy
pkey Posted May 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I recommend checking the biddingfortravel website for info on current bids in Vancouver. It is very helpful in giving you both $$ info and hotels received. Also, they have a list of hotels at various star levels and zones.
JeannetteC Posted May 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2004 In Vancouver, I got a 4-star for $70 about three weeks ago on the first try. However, I had so much trouble in Anchorage that I booked a B&B as a back-up and then decided to keep the B&B. Someone on biddingfortravel said that the week I was going to Anchorage, most of the hotels would be booked because of a convention so it was unlikely that I'd get a great rate. fmstl Posted May 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I got the Hyatt in downtown Vancouver on Priceline for $65, it is also a few blocks from the pier and is right next to the skytrain station.
mpk Posted May 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Priceline doesn't guarantee bed types, right? So if I need two beds, will Priceline work?
powriel Posted May 4, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Priceline doesn't guarantee bed type, but I've always called the hotel after receiving the name from Priceline and requested bed type and had no problems. 8/25 Carnival Spirit Conquest 2/03 Glory 2/
CaribbeanCrazy Posted May 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Don't give up if your not having any luck right now! Keep trying every three to five days. I wasn't having any luck getting a hotel in Vancouver either. I started bidding 4 stars...with no luck...I even tried for 3 stars...still no luck. This went on for a couple...maybe three weeks. Then one day I started doing my usual bidding...not feeling very optimistic...started with my usual 45.00 bid for a 4 star in downtown Vancouver...and low and behold I got the Marriott Pinnacle for 45.00 on the first try that day! This was about 4 weeks before the arrival date. Good Luck CaribbeanCrazy

BobJanice Posted May 6, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 6, 2004 $65.00 seems to be a safe bet for a 4 star Hotel in Vancouver... Several post have stated that they had a reservation for Hyatt @ $65.00. Go for $50.00 Maybe you to can get the Marriott for $50 a night Bob Infinity 7/04/2004 Galaxy 10/

transactionchick Posted May 10, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and you can see what hotels are currently releasing rooms to Priceline as well as check the boards to see what people are bidding and what they are receiving for a certain area.
