dmen131 Posted May 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Looking for opinions about which one is most awe-inspiring. I have seen Hubbard Glacier and thought it was fantastic. Looking to book Alaskan cruise this summer with others and want them to see the most special of the three. We were leaning towards Princess out of Seattle but that is Tracey Arm and I've heard Glacier Bay is best; I know that Hubbard Glacier is great; haven't heard anything really about Tracey Arm. Thanks!
grouchy Posted May 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2004 I found Glacier Bay to be mystical. Everyone was very quiet while we there and spoke in hushed tones. It is awe inspiring!Makes you feel rather small. Time for another Cruise!
Host Caroline Posted May 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Agree with Grouchy. Tracy Arm is an narrow fjord, very pictureseque and awesome with fjord cliffs rising up. Lots of "ice" in the water when we have been there, gorgeous ice bergs. But if I had to choose, hands down GlaBay. mbisson Posted May 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2004 I would also prefer GB, BUT--I'd love to go back to Tracy Arm. Hey-I love fjords, really great so see those cliffs climb UP-UP-UP. And, to me Hubbard is the most awesome single glacier. Isn't it nice to have 3 can't miss choices -Monte some of my cruising photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/m1bisson A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work. The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good. towhee Posted May 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Having been to all three, my order of preference is 1. Glacier Bay, 2. Hubbard Glacier, 3. Tracy Arm. Glacier Bay has restrictions on the number of ships that can enter (I think it's two large ships per day). I have seen smaller ships, such as the ones that Tauk Tours use, in there. Budget Queen Posted May 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2004 I too have been to all three and my preference for Tracy Arm would be with a small private boat company. I went with Auk Nu and had wonderful views. But my clear preference from a cruise ship is Glacier Bay, has a wide "variety" of glaciers plus a 70 mile sailing full of scenery.
