Legend of the Seas Review

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We just returned from the Mexico after a wonderful 7 days on the Legend.

The staff was the best we have ever had. Our room steward was wonderful.

We mentioned we wished there were 4 chairs on the balcony instead of 2 as we had 6 in our group coming in and out of the room (we had the only balcony) and an hour after bing on board ( we boarded at 11 am ) we came back from lunch and we had 4 chairs. Anything we asked he was so quick to do and we were made to feel special our whole cruise. Our waiter and assisant waiter were also very special. They went out of their way every night to take wonderful care of the 6 of us.

Food: My sister has been on 20 cruises, all lines but carnival ,seaborne and lives in the Napa valley, she appreciates good food and felt this was one of the top five cruises for the quality of the food.

Ship: The Legend is a nicely laid out ship, she shows some wear but was clean and comfortable.

We only took one tour as have been on this itenary many times. It was the Las Calitas tour to the private beach with snorkeling, kayaking, lunch, great margaritas and the catameran ride each way was great.

Shows: The cruise director and his wife are very talented and the shows were your normal cruise shows. Some very good and other so-so.

Sorry this is a short review but as you can tell I am not a writer. The only negative thing I would say about the cruise is making the mistake for the first time and going in the summer. The pools just had too many children for this

senior to enjoy swimming.

We also stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Bay across from the cruise terminal in San Diego and were very satisfied with the room and balcony, we watched our ship come in at 6:30 am and was able to tell when folks started to board.

If you have any question feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.

Thanks for the information. We have sailed on the Legend of the Seas twice and have booked it again for two weeks next spring. We are really looking forward to seeing it again.

Glad you also enjoyed this ship, it is one of our very favorites.

And had a good time. Wish we had your room stewart though! Our balcony was filthy and covered in soot. We missed the Meet and Mingle because our invitation was not delivered until AFTER it was over! (We were in the room at 1:00 on Monday and it was not there---it was there at 4:00pm though :( ). And mysteriously three pairs of my sons shorts are missing and the stewart, who was not the quiet in and out of the room unnoticed type, mentioned having a son his age and that she was going home today too. Oh and on the first day my sister's gold was stolen out of her bags between the pier and the room! But, our waiters were great and we had a gratisimo time regardless.

We enjoyed the shows overall and I thought John and Katrina were pretty good too. I must say I think if I do the Mexican Riviera again it will not be in August. We get enough hot in Phoenix!

I absolutely concur. We are on the Legend next week and these timely reviews are awesome! Just can't wait. After five months of anticipation, packing yesterday, watching the ship yesterday on the San Diego port cam...sigh! Why did I even come to work this week...I am worthless!

We will be on the Legend in March 6, 2005 to Hawaii, does the Legend have an alternative dining room, or do they use part of the Windjammer as the alternative dining for the evenings?

We were on the Legend the week of 7-25-04. It was our first cruise so we have no comparisons, but we loved the size and layout of the ship.

The service was very good. The food was overall good. For serving that many people we were impressed. The only thing we thought was not as good as we had anticipated was the midnight chocolate buffett. By the time we got to the food because of the very long line, it looked like a war zone!! We saw people walking by with chocolate covered strawberries, but by the time we got there they were gone. If you want to go to this buffett, I suggest you be at the front of the line to get the good stuff!

In Cabo we went to the Rose' Resort. Very pretty and even though we were from the ship they let us use their lounge chairs and facilities. We had lunch at their deli. http://www.loscabosguide.com/hotels/pboniros.htm

In Mazatlan we hired an open air taxi for 25.00 and he took us on a tour and waited while we lunched at Senor Frogs. Not our favorite port. We came back to the ship early and napped on the balcony!! It was heaven!

In Puerto Vallarta some did the Los Veranos Canopy tour. They said it was alot of fun, very exhilarating. They went to Hooters for lunch. The rest shopped and went to the beach. Even though the ship was in port until 11:00 p.m. alot of people came back early for dinner. Might have been due to how hot it was.

We had lots of fun in the casino!! Wheel of Fortune game rocks!!

I would go on this cruise again, just not in the middle of the summer.

Sle, did not see an alternate dining option on the Legend. Just the formal, Windjammer, the Solarium for burgers and fries ( be sure to check it daily as they have specials) and room service. Be sure and check the daily compass for the times each of these places are open. There is always somewhere to get food, but if you have your heart set on the dining room or the windjammer they have specific hours that may change daily. Hope this helps.

We saw whales and dolphins from our balcony. We wished we had packed a small pair of binoculars.

Can't wait to cruise again!

Hi, Sorry about the gold. We always pack a small carry on for meds and our gold.

John told us when to look for dolphins(what day we would be in the right waters and might see them) they are from New York and have worked for RCCL for 15 years.

It was fun to hear about their life when we went to the platium lunch. They also said the Legend is being sent to Europe and refurbished and then will stay in Europe.

We also missed the party as Weyin told us about it but didn't have the invatation until later. He was upset they were so late. We jus got busy, too much fun and forgot, shame on us

As i have heard many different replies on this one, I'll ask someone whom just got off of it.

How many holes are on the mini golf course now, and what is the condition of it?

How are the pools, were they full?

rapsodyme - We have cruised with Katrina and John Blair quite often and have become dear friends. Aren't they great at their job? We are to the point that we don't even want to cruise without them being on board.

17 holes. Lost one to the rock wall. Condition of the course is okay. Don't take it too seriously and you will have fun.

Pools were pretty full, especially as we had 360 kids on board. Maybe it is not so crowded now without them.

Well at least it was only one hole, I had heard reports from gossip on here it was anywhere between 5 and 9 holes!

Naw, we usually dont take it too seriously because if you saw us play golf you would know why!

Thanks for the update, much appriciated by us!

rapscodyme - We will be on the Legend Feb 2005. Did you book your room at the Holiday Inn directly through the hotel or did you find a better deal elsewhere. Did you use a taxi to get to the port or do they offer free shuttle? Also, did they pick you up at the airport or did you taxi from there on your own. Do you remember where your room was located at the Holiday Inn? I think it would be great to see the ship come in early in the morning of the cruise. Thanks!
