non drowsy Dramamine vs. Bonine

Recommended Posts

Ok after a few weeks of searching for Bonine tablets that you can swallow i gave up!! I couldn't find them. Today i gave in and bought the chewable Bonine. After seeing weather reports for the atlantic i decided to go out and get more Bonine. While in Walgreens i realize that non drowsy Dramamine and Bonine have the same ingredient Meclizine 25 mg.

So all this time i wasted running form store to store looking for Bonine I could have been buying the non drowsy dramamine

I hope there isn't a difference???

I have never used either...since I have never had a problem with seasickness. But my sister has been very nervous since this storm (Dean) has formed. I went to the pharmacy and asked some questions....the pharmasist recommended bonine over the dramamine. It is safe, and non drowsy....Have a safe trip!

I have been taking the chewable Bonine since I was a kid. I take one every day when I am on a cruise. In my experience it doesn't make you drowsy and I have never been seasick. My recommendation though is that you take it before you go to bed. Some people say that it does make them a little drowsy, so why not take advantage of that fact. Take it before bed and don't worry about it. The pill is effective for 24 hours so it doesn't matter. Also, the box says it is chewable, I just swallow them. never had a problem doing that either.

I too have taken Bonine for years - one a day starting the morning of the cruise, then only if it's rough - I also take ginger root pills (1 every 4 hours if it's rough, you can get tham at GNC) the combo seems to work for me. Took them on my last flights and for the first time, didn't get even a hint of air sickness :) . With Bonine alone I did still get somewhat air queasy. So I'm stickin' with what works for me!
