The little girl at the table next to me special ordered macaroni and cheese. It looked so good I wanted some too but didn't dare ask. Now I wonder why I didn't dare. All the waiter could do would be refuse.

There's no harm in asking for what you want. If they say no, they say no, but they just MIGHT say yes.

How much is the insulated mug and would I be able to fill it with tea or water in the WJ or would it be too tall to fit under the spicket?

I have seen more than once someone ask for Escargo on additional nights, it has always been accomodated if requested nicely in advance.

One table-mate asked for a special steak to be done each night...he got it on the second night and realized his kidding had been taken seriously by waiter and ate two mains that evening...I think the good waiters do everything to make you feel at home on the ship. (The waiter involved is from Bali, Indonesia and both times we have gone to Bali, we found everyone from Bali <not the Java island transplants> to be very warm and welcoming so it did nit surprise me how he made the other guest's request a reality.)

On one of my cruises (my only one not on RCCL), I was on a very strict diet. No oils, butter, or other products high in fat. The first night, there was a vegetarian sushi roll on the menu as an appetizer. My waiter saw how much I enjoyed it and I got the same thing for the rest of the cruise without even asking.

Senior discounts are available on select cruises. They are usually offered on sailings that are not filling up fast enough. Resident discounts are also offered on some sailings. You can ask your TA if a senior or resident discount is available at the time you book. If not, ask them to let you know if they become available. Even if you booked early and the discounts come available later, your TA can get you the discount. If you booked directly through RCCL, you can call reservations and have it applied. To find out if they are offered on your sailing, check the current promotions on the RCCL website. This also applies to price decreases. You can have the price adjusted on your booking just by calling reservations--even after final payment. I'm a TA and I've done it many times for my clients.

Go to the Pursers desk once your board. You fill out a form that has each of your kids seapass card and the limit. You can specify a daily or total cruise limit. One thing to note: The limit will not kick in until its exceeded. For example, if your kid has $5.00 left on his limit and he charges $10, it will go thru, but subsequent charges will be declined.

This tip is sooooo simple, but often not used. In the WJ, I see poor wretches wandering around with food laden plates and silverware tucked under their chins searching for their friends and a table. When we enter the WJ when it is crowded, we find a table first, then take turns going through the buffet stations. Much less stress.

More serious though....going early presume knowing "when". Do they announce in advance what time the drill will be?

Actually I didn't know we could do this until I read it here before my last cruise. So keep it a secret before the cruise line starts giving out chips instead of cash. SSSHHHHH is the word here.

Mac & cheese isn't a special order - it is on the kids' menu. And adults can order from the kids' menu if they want to (but be sure you ask for a larger portion, as when I did this I was brought an itsy-bitsy childs' portion!). :D

Don't worry, ppl with disabilities are allowed to use the elevators during the drill. (Do be sure they know that you would need help during a real emergency, though. There is a place to mark that on the disability accommodations form they ask you to fax back to them.)

Going early works fine, too. The time of the drill is listed in your Cruise Compass, which will be waiting in your cabin when you get on the cruise. You can also call up the customer service desk and ask. And, yes, they do make advance announcements of the drill.

When I did it, I wasn't sure if I was leaving early enough for non-disabled ppl to be on the elevators, but since they were on there and there was nobody stopping them, I guess I was early enough. I don't know what time they stop them, but at least half of our muster station was already at the station lined up when I got there, so I guess a lot of ppl go early.

The elevators were not a problem all week, BTW. (I'm not in a chair, but have a service dog so do require a bit of extra room in an elevator, though not as much as a chair does.)

Oh - our muster wasn't the drawn-out, waiting-for-hidden-ppl type you sometimes read about on here, but it did start getting hot out there especially with the life jacket on. If we'd been out there any longer, I was going to have to take it off before I fainted or something. If we'd been out there any longer, I would've needed to sit down, too. But it was quick, thankfully. (And, yes, I had a life jacket for my dog, too!)

They don't charge you the 3% fee?? I am on Liberty next month.

 

nope-because the money isn't coming from your credit card company-it's coming from the casino.

 

You pay your bill at the end with the RC Visa and then pay off the VISA with the cash you took out.

 

Even if they didn't double it you'd still get single points for the $ and at 1% real cash value that adds up. $2000 at the casino is like $20 - more than I usually win...

Here's my tip for people who have the RCI Visa Credit Cards:

 

You earn double points for any RCI purchases. That includes the onboard purchases. So we take about $3000 off the card in the casino and just use that cash to pay off the card when we get home. Thats an additional 6000 points on our card for discounts on our next cruise!

 

Just that alone gets us a $50 onboard credit for the next trip!!!!

 

Wow - that's a GREAT tip. I think I will do that on my next cruise!

The casino pays out more money on the first night of a cruise, then the winners slow down on subsequent nights. This gives people a false sense of how "easy" it is to win money. Folks win a bit on the first night, then lose it and more by the end of the cruise.

 

 

I mentioned this in another thread and the general consensus was that this can be called "urban legend"

We went into the dining room early to look for our table. We walked around and around and around -- finally we had to ask for help! Turns out our table wasn't even in the dining room! We were in a room off to the side; it looked like a room that might've been designed for large private parties. To make matters worse, we were way at the back of the room so that our view was a wall. It lacked all the grandeur of the dining room. Yuck. We went to trouble to bring nice dinner clothes, and we felt like we were stuck at the kids' table -- what a disappointment! My luck: I always get the best hotel room/cabin, but I can't get a good dinner table to save my life! Knowing that it was Thanksgiving week and the ship was packed full, we didn't bother to try to change. It's official: We are "over" the dining room. Next time we'll have breakfast/lunch in the dining room, but we will not bother with dinner clothes and dinner times.

 

We got this room on another ship we were on. We all joked that we were SPECIAL and that it was our private area. We did however have huge windows to look out of
