Just back Dawn 2nighter

Recommended Posts

Despite the problems on the ship before us, we had a GREAT cruise.

We left long island Friday at 11:30for manhattan and got stuck in construction getting crosstown thru the city. parked at the pier around 1pm and got on the ship around 2pm. They claimed that they finished boarding latitudes members and made us stand at the end of the mob of people waiting in line to board. Next time I will be sure to leave the house by 10am. I find you board much quicker when you arrive by 11am.

We Sanitized the room with wipes once we got in (at 4pm-dropped bags off at 2 even though we were told not to) and kept washing our hands all weekends, no one got sick.

Had lunch at the Venetian, service and food was great.

Dinner Friday at Le Bistro was awesome, we got lucky and got a table at 6:30 (in the wine cellar out front ) even though they and Cagneys were fully booked for both nights. I realized I should have made reservations ASAP. The line for reservations was SO long I wasnt going to wait on it -another reason to get to the pier early.

We liked the Chinese comedian Friday night (dont remember his name) but, and this is still a mystery to us, my Verizon cell phone was an hour behind the ships time, a few other verizon customers were puzzled too(we weren't crazy at least). So we got to the show and it was over about 20 minutes later! But it was fun while it lasted. The casino was packed and we donated a bit of money. (then got some really good late night sandwiches at the buffet, garden cafe)

Breakfast at the buffet was fine, Im not a big breakfast person but, the coffee(I must have this) was pretty bad. I even brought some of my own french vanilla creamers and "to go" cup to sweeten it up but still not great. Even the coffee at the Java Cafe is not great. and in the room, there is only a warmer to make instant coffee --ugh!, but coffee aside, I enjoyed all the food onboard.

Lunch at the Venetian DR was pretty good, as was dinner at Salsa. The mariachi singers were really good during dinner.

We saw "Band on the Run" show with tunes from the 70's and 80's, it was cute.

The Quest was a roaring blast, our team won 3rd place so that tells ya something!

Made a deposit onboard for the next cruise and got $100 onboard credit so I gotta run and plan the next cruise!

You must have been a rowdy group if you finished third in the Quest game. I would hate to see who finished ahead of you. Yeah, 2 PM is a tough time to get there. Earlier or later is less crowded. I never miss a chance to eat at Le Bistro. Now the Dawn is sailing south on a 14 day cruise I believe. I'll get back on when she comes back to NY. Good ship.

We were on the 2 night cruise as well and had a great time.

We also participated in the Quest and it was a riot. Congrats on the 3rd place. It is amazing what we will do for NCL water bottles and other NCL stuff. We must have just lost out to you!

Okay.. Quest?

Is this equivilent to The Quest on RCCL?

And is this something that they have on the longer cruises as well? :)

Since I have been reading all about " The Quest", I just wanted to let you know that our group #1 came in First Place this year!! Our Quest was to win the Quest. Last year we were on board the Dawn for the one night dinner cruise and it was our first taste of this wacky event. We were in a total frenzy last year playing this game. Dressing up our male friends in our clothes, barking like a dog, showing tan lines and piercings. I was sitting sans panties for a good part of the show! This year we came prepared to win! For those of you who were there, I'm sure you wondered how did I manage to get to the stage so soon? The answer was the desire to win the coveted Tee Shirt! Oh it may only be a white cotton tee to most people but to team #1 it meant victory. So we jumped, we ran, we stole from other teams, we barked, we wormed and we de-pants our way to first place and into The Quest History Books. I for one had more fun on this cruise then the past 11 that I have traveled with this great group of Quest Seekers! Even as one of our team members had to be taken off the ship via wheelchair because of the virus, we held our heads up high because we did all of this crazy stuff for THE TEAM AND A NCL TEE SHIRT! ;)

I did not see anything you described at Quest! We were sitting way in the back of the lounge. We zoomed our camera in order to fixate on the young body builder running around in his hot black underwear!

I must have been so busy leading my team to victory that I missed that eye candy! How about the hot English cruise director? Union Jack all the way, Baby!

I can say that team #1 won the quest. My team....What a wild and crazy time!!! All for that cotton tee, but it meant so much after losing last year, like my friend said "our quest was to win the quest" and she was determined!!!so was my husband! If only we had won the newlywed game too, we would have left undefeated!!!!:p  :p

Hey Paula, Thanks for the help on the few items we needed, we had a blast. Nobody else got sick, just the big guy that did the worm for your team.

Signed, A man with a thong on his head;)

I think that the men on this Quest were overworked. I was the only man in my group and found that I was always having to do something.

I even had to borrow the Cruise Director because there were no other guys on my side of the room for a few Quests! Like the rest of you, my wife, friend's and I had a fun time. We used to play this game on RCCL every year before my wife and I began taking our kids on cruises with us. They were home this weekend so we got to play!

HI,

I have to say the Quest was the highlight of the trip. Since I had seen it before , I told our group it was the absolute must-see of the cruise. It turned out that our daughter and son-in-law joined a group. She was the one who stole the shoelaces right out of the hand of the poor guy who was about to present them to the judges. You should have seen the look on his face when he noticed they were gone!! We had front row seats right in the middle, (which meant we had to sit through the excruciating "comedian" twice, groan). If you were there for the seventies dance, our ds, sil, friend and bil were four of the Village People. Thanks to enough beer, I suppose. They are usually not the type to perform for groups. So, the whole night was a great laugh, except for the comedian who was supposed to make us laugh. Oh, well.

Sorry to hear one of your party became ill. There certainly were a lot of sanitary measures trying to prevent it. One of our group was sick on Sat night also. Thought it was sea-sickness since he forgot to take Bonine Sat, but the ship was hardly moving, and his wife became ill on Sun night at home. The rest of us are fine, though.

Hope to see you all again on another great, but longer, cruise.

Arlene
