Little Megan's Bay

We went to Megan's Bay last month, loved the beach, but would have liked a little more privacy. We are going back to St. Thomas in the spring. I have heard of Little Mega's Bay, which I understand to be off to the right (facing the water), out along the rocky shore.

Questions:

How far out along that rocky shore is it?

How long does it take to walk to it (from the edge of Megan's Bay Beach)?

How difficult a walk/hike is it along the rocks?

Has you ever been out there, and what did you find the experience to be like?

Maybe 1/4 mile and about 15 minutes. The rocks are smooth, in some cases you can walk over them and in some spots you have to get in the water, which is shallow close to the rocks, and wade/swim.

It’s usually empty to sparsely populated, off the beaten track. It’s known as a nude beach, however public nudity including at beaches is illegal in the USVI. The beach is small, pretty, no amenities.

Thanks Islander...By the way, what would the bottom be like where you have to step in: sandy, muddy, weedy, rocky... bare feet or footwear?

Hello,

If you are standing on Magens Bay facing the water and you look to the right along the penisula that forms the right side of the bay you see 2 or 3 small sandy stretches. The first one is Little Magens.

Here is a photo: Magens Bay Beach, St. Thomas

The bottom of Magens Bay is sandy and this is the case by the rocks on the right side too. The parts of rocks that are in the water have marine life growing on them, but its easy to see this because the water is shallow and clear. Bare feet are ok, the rocks do get hot though.

Great picture... now please help me clearify just a bit.

As I look at your picture, I see what appears to be a small sandy "beach" would be almost directly below two red roofs that are near the top of the hill (narrow strip of sand situated in front what appears to be a dark spot a short ways into the water).

I then look a little farther along that shore and see what would appear to be a wider and longer stretch of sand that has a fairly large rectangular developement of some form - not too far up the hill (up off the left corner of the beach).

Would Little Megan's Bay be one of these, and if so, which one?

Thanks again The Islander
