Transatlantic Tom Posted November 27, 2007 #1 Posted November 27, 2007 Has anyone ever been in 2033 on QE2, and if so, what did you think of it ?? Thanks !
Rare Colin_Cameron Posted November 27, 2007 #2 Posted November 27, 2007 Not quite, but been in 2032. The mirror image on the port side. Unfortunately it was in 2001 and pre-digital camera. so no photo's to share. But I have found these photos online (also 2032) http://www.*****/travelpage/aspgallery/view_ad.asp?Ad_ID=874&CatLevel=&Cat1_ID=&Cat2_ID=&Cat3_ID=&Cat4_ID=&FromSearch=True&SearchPage=%2Ftravelpage%2Faspgallery%2Fsearch%2Easp%3FCatLevel%3D%26Cat1%5FID%3D%26Cat2%5FID%3D%26Cat3%5FID%3D%26Cat4%5FID%3D%26SearchText%3D2032%26x%3D44%26y%3D8 We moved straight from a much larger cabin so it felt quite small, but I think that was just the inevitable comparison. If you look at the deck plans you'll see that One Deck, above these cabins, is a white space. Turns out that this is the crew mess and there was a bit of scraping of chair legs on a hard floor right above our heads. Not too bad, but noticable. Convenient for the A stairway and lifts to Mauretania Restaurant. We did wonder if we would be annoyed by the "ding" of the lifts but don't remember this being a problem. Oh yes. Your muster station is the Queens Grill so you'll get to see that too. If I think of anything else I'll come back again. Regards, Colin.
Transatlantic Tom Posted November 27, 2007 Author #3 Posted November 27, 2007 Colin: Thanks very much - most kind of you to reply so quickly ! I'm a little concerned about your statement regarding hearing chairs being moved about from above; do you remember what times of day you'd hear it ??? Early in the morning and/or late at night ???? Or more breakfast, lunch, dinner times ???
kevankiki Posted November 27, 2007 #4 Posted November 27, 2007 Has anyone ever been in 2033 on QE2, and if so, what did you think of it ?? Thanks ! Yes!!!! DD and I had this cabin on our cruise in the summer, we loved it!!! It seemed quite a bit bigger than 2031, which DH and DS were in (they were envious!), we also had two chests of drawers (though be warned, if someone is in the bathroom and you don't close one of the drawers of the one next to the bathroom, you 'lock' them in - I did this to DD when I went next door to talk to DH :D ). As Colin said, it's convenient for the Mauretania, but we found it a bit of a hike for the public areas of the ship. I used to take the lift up to Boat Deck and walk along the outside from there, then you can come down to wherever you want to be, but then I love Boat Deck in particular. Ding noises from the lift was something that concerned me too, but I don't recall hearing any, nor do I remember any scraping of chairs above. I've just checked through my photos, and I am sorry to say that I don't have nay worth sharing, those I did find had one or other of us in them. This was by far the best cabin I've had though, and we've tried three now, I personally felt it was a bargain of a cabin for the grade! Any further questions, feel free to ask, and I'll dredge up my memory :)

What cruise was it and when, if you don't mind my asking ???? I wonder if the cabin Colin was in - being the mirror image cabin on the other side of the ship - was under the crew mess & 2033 is NOT under that room....OR if the crew mess has been moved sometime since 2001 ??? But to repeat - you DID NOT hear chairs being moved ??? It seem to me that you wouldn't have missed something like that, would you ??? Basically, you would recommend this cabin - correct ???
Rare Colin_Cameron Posted November 27, 2007 #6 Posted November 27, 2007 Hi Tom, Only noticed it early(ish) in the morning. The crew don't only eat once a day so I can only assume that whatever noise we made in the cabin was enough to mask the sounds. Annette says she didn't hear anything in 2033 so maybe it's only on the port side. Colin.
Transatlantic Tom Posted November 28, 2007 Author #7 Posted November 28, 2007 Annette, Colin: Many thanks for your helpful and very timely replies. I am most grateful. We were unexpectedly moved from a cabin on Four Deck to 2033, and I wanted to be sure that there were no "issues" with this cabin. I was literally on the phone with our Cunard rep discussing the issue when I saw your respective responses - half paying attention to her, half reading your replies !!! Based on your postive feedback, my wife and I will be giving 2033 a try !! Cheers !;)
kevankiki Posted November 28, 2007 #8 Posted November 28, 2007 Tom It was the Iberian Getaway II, back in August of this year, so a very recent experience. Even DH still remembers what a nice cabin we girlies had, and yes, I would certainly recommend it! I asked DH if he remembers any scraping chairs, since he was next door, he doesn't either. He says he did hear some banging one night, but figured it was coming from the cabin next door to him, I think you can get that from any neighbouring cabin though :o I wouldn't have noticed any scraping if it was early in the morning, however, as I'd have been up on Boat Deck by then having my tea and croissant :D What reason did they have for moving you from your cabin on deck 4, do you know?
pnhmrk Posted November 28, 2007 #9 Posted November 28, 2007 I've just looked out my plans of the ship. The mess is only on the port side so it's not over 2033. There is a store room over 2033 which might account for the odd bump but as there is no indication as to what is stored there the plans aren't that helpful!

Sorry to go off the subject Annette but were you on the QE2 from 12th -26th August this year. Its just that your picture looks very familiar and we were on this cruise. I`ve been meaning to ask this question for ages and curiosity is getting the better of me. Tricia

Tricia Hi Tricia, we actually boarded on 26th August, so that couldn't have been me, sorry. You wouldn't be first person to recognise me from my avatar though, I was actually approached by a CCer in La Rochelle, who had done just that! :)
