Dcellbattery Posted September 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2004 We stayed at the Marriott South Beach and loved it. I fell in love with Maimi because of this hotel. It is minutes from the pier.
cmason Posted September 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Check out the Doubletree Surfcomber. Right on the beach, great location
willwork4cruise Posted September 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Loew's is right in the center of the action.... their restaurant is one owned by Emeril and is really fantastic. The rooms are large and the pool and spa really have a lot to offer. Enjoy!
swingphi Posted September 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2004 Last year before our VOS cruise we stayed at the Roney Palace. The rooms were very nice with an art deco decor, the Cuba resturant across the street was resonably priced and the food was excellent. We went back to celebrate the New Year and we stayed at the FountainBleu.... Wow.. The hotel, the grounds, the atmosphere was great. Coming from Chicago and experiencing the 80's in December helped as well as the "Rat Pack Theme" throughout. We liked them both.
Majesty Fan Posted September 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2004 My husband and I are staying at the Clevelander. It can be loud at night so ask for the suite or quiet side. It is right across the street from the beach and near Verace house and many places to eat. We leave for Miami in just over 3 weeks! Lexi

Cruising89143 Posted September 19, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2004 I have stayed at the Doubletree Surfcomber and the Marriott South Beach. Both are nice hotels and are located on the beach. If you stay at the Marriott make sure that you get a room up high if you are on the southside of the hotel as there is a condo next door that can block your view of the ocean and of the ships coming in and out of port. I have some photos that were taken from the balcony of the Marriott in my link below from my Triumph cruise earlier this year. I prefer the Marriott over the Doubletree due to size of room. flmatraveller Posted September 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2004 I live in the Miami area and the Delano, Shore Club and the New Ritz Carlton South Beach all give you a true South Beach experience. All three are luxurious boutique style hotels, and close to the action of South Beach.
maxxboy Posted September 20, 2004 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2004 The Park Central is our favorite. Nice renovated art deco hotel on Ocean Dr.

If I remember correctly it seemed pretty dumpy. If this is the same hotel, are the rooms nice and clean? I remember telling my husband that if I had booked that hotel on line without seeing it, I would have been really bummed!
awatt Posted September 20, 2004 #13 Share Posted September 20, 2004 Yes the Clevelander is the one with the pool bar right off the street. It's a very fun bar,but there are much nicer accommadations in S.B.,and I would not recommend staying there. With regard to the Roney Palace- it is GREAT and a relative bargain for that area. Really beautiful resort. However,it has just been bought by a large consortium. The hotel is temporarily closed, and some more construction/renioation is expected. So this is not an option presently, but should be a really good choice when it reopens.
