dtday Posted March 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2008 We sailed on the Spirit to the Mexican Riviera the week of 3-5-08 to 3-13-08. Ports of call were Acapulco, Zihuatenajo, and Manzanillo.. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and I will answer them the best I can. D&T

sharonh1885 Posted March 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2008 I am booked for December 6th and can hardly wait. What excursions did you do?
teenabear Posted March 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2008 We went on the same cruise Feb 2 and have to say that the horseback riding in Acapulco and the swimming with the dolphins in Ixtapa were the best that we have ever done on any of our other cruises. :)
cruisecastle Posted March 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2008 I'm on that cruise next week. How was it?? tell us some stuff

jerchele Posted March 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2008 Hope you had a great time - I will be on this cruise with a large group on March 29. How was the weather? Do you still have your Capers? My friend wants to know if they showed the movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show"?
pimentel7 Posted March 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 14, 2008 Will also be sailing on the March 29th cruise. Did you go to the piano bar and, if so, how was the singer? What was the weather like? Did you go to any of the shows and did you enjoy them?
dtday Posted March 14, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted March 14, 2008 OK, to start, we had a frickin' blast on this cruise. Everything was great. The ship, shows, cabin, excursions, and especially the weather. So, let's answer some questions.. I have noticed one question was asked a few times, so let's answer that now.... Weather was totally beautiful. Sun ALL the time. Enjoy it, not to much though, or you will get burned like we did.. lol bonstersd.. Sorry, don't remember his name, but the slot and blackjack tournies I lost in were cool.:o We stayed in balcony room 7228. Slightly small, but still nice. You're gonna LOVE the pillows.:) sharonh1885... We did the Acapulco City tour. Saw the cliff divers, and went ALL over Acapulco. In Zihuatenejo we did the ATV excursion. So much fun. WEAR SUN SCREEN.. lol.. And in Manzanillo, I did the Elephant Rock snorkeling. It was cool. Water was warm, but a little murky. teenabear... Love the excursions. Had a blast. cruisecastle... Ship is big, food was great, crew was awesome. If you drink alot of soda(which is NOT free)buy the drink card. This covers all soda for duration. Does not work at 7-11 as I found out last night...LOL..Just kidding. Shows were great. Do take something for seasickness, the boat does rock a little. If you are affected by this, seasick pills help. Ask around for whichever one works the best. Activities onboard were fun and plentiful. Wife and I walked out with 5 "gold medals"..You'll see....Did I mention...WEAR SUNSCREEN.. lol;) Anything more specific, just ask. cathyz... Had a great time, thanks. Sorry, didn't hear anything about that. jerchele... Thank you also, had loads of fun. YEP, kept ALL of the capers. Someone from our cruise critic meet-and-greet is going to try an post a full version of one. If he does it, and I find it, I will pass it along. Sorry, no RHPS. All movies on ship, were in-room, and repeating every other day. pimentel7... The piano bar, strangely, when I saw it, was mostly quiet, but then again, I was mostly downstair doing karaoke. The shows on board were very worth seeing. Comedians were very funny.. Magician was ok.. Hypnotist was also just ok.. The shows put on by the dancers , singers and orchestra were terrific. AND, at the end of the cruise, they do a "Carnival Legends" show. This has guests participating as legends such as Madonna, Elvis, Elton John and more.. Just like Vegas.. Very cool show...Scott Chandler, TightEnd for the Chargers was Garth Brooks. Very good show. NOW, for the best times to see the shows, you need to have EARLY SEATING in the dining room(Empire Room)..... OK.... Anything else more specific, just ask... later all.. mjbearit Posted March 14, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 14, 2008 My wife and I were on the cruise with Doug and his wife and he said feel free to jump in, so I will! ;) I don't know who the casino host was, but look for the man with all my money! LOL! Didn't go to the piano bar so no idea on that one either. The weather was pretty darned good for the most part. Going down we did hit 8 foot swells one day, but the ship handled it like a champ! Once we got down around Cabo it started warming up and by the time we got to Aca it was very warm verging on hot and kinda humid for my taste. It stayed warm but got progressivly less humid as we came back north to the other two ports. Again when we hit about where the sea of Cortez dumps out it started getting chilly again, then we hit the edge of a weather front and we had some pretty bad swells on the last night. Up until then I though seasick was for other people, but with the packing and such I ended up wishing for a quick death! LOL! Not really. I never did actually throw up, but I sure was feeling poorly! Took a mechlazine and laid down and felt batter later. Woke up in San Diego with a cold! Forget to take my Airborne the last three days! My bad! In Aca we did the Aztec Dinner and Cliff Divers. We enjoyed this very much! We went to Linda Vista restaurant for dinner and the food was very good, service wonderful! We had two visually impaired people and me with a cane for my arthritis, and they took very good care of us, put us in a place we could see the cliff divers very well without the crowds. They went overboard to make sure anyone with a mobility problem was very well taken care of! We really appreciated it! In Zihua we took the Customs and Traditions tour. We all four left feeling like we did not get our money's worth, and it was a cheap tour! Nuff said! In Manzanillo we went on the 4 wheel drive Off-Road Jeep thing. We had a blast! They were great! If you do this, you will get VERY dirty so be sure to wear jeans and whatever, showes and socks! Everyone was covered in brown dust from head to toes! It was really fun though! A family made us a light lunch/snack by the river of tortillas, quesadillas, beans, salsa and some drinks (water, soda, etc.). We got back to the starting point and they had a little bar area where you could buy a few beers (Corona, can't have everything!). Small bottles for a buck a piece. All I had was a $20.00 bill so I ended up with pesos for change. Gave them to the guide for a tip! Save the conversion! LOL! No RHPS that I was aware of, but there is just so much to do! The supper club was a great experience for us, but then someone else got worse service and did not have the same good time. I guess we were lucky all around because we always got taken care of very well! Maybe word gets around that I tip well? I have no idea! All in all, we would do this cruise again in a heartbeat! The ship was in very good repair, the crew was always friendly and helpful, the food was always good and plentiful (if you don't like one dish, get something else!). We only did the lido buffet dinner once and were a bit disappointed by the selections, but we really didn't feel like dressing for formal night! We had just dressed for the supper club the night before...well....and we were still hung over! LOL! The only two issues I had were that the photographers could be very agressive! They had a tendancy to grab and pull at people who had obvious mobility issues! Bad idea! The other issue was with the cabin of the people we were traveling with. They had the most forward cabin you could get on our floor (5108) and it was so windy as to be almost unusable. This is obviously a design issue of the ship and really is not a reflection on the Captain and crew!
mjbearit Posted March 14, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 14, 2008 Forgot to mention, I did save all the Capers and when I go back to work next week I will find time to scan them all and will post sometime soon. Mike
Tracyr Posted March 14, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 14, 2008 I was on this sailing as well and would be happy to answer some questions. My daughter and her friend participated in club 02. If you have teens 15-17 they thought it was great. Ria who was in charge of the group and sh got high reviews. The girls had an exceptional time. We had a wonderful waiter, but I thought service in the dining room was pretty slow. We had 6pm dining and never left the dining room before 7:30 we were a table of four. The rest of our group was at the table next to us for 10 with a different waiter. I don't think they ever left before 8pm. Tracy

dtday Posted March 14, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted March 14, 2008 Sorry, No menus... This varies daily, but I believe if you go to the Carnival website, they might have a sample menu of the supper club. We did have an EXTRAORDINARY experience at the Supper Club.. Great food, great service. I think I tried ALL of the starters AND desserts.. Great place. A must do on board. D&T

Casey Posted March 14, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 14, 2008 I was also on this cruise:D We spent some time in the piano bar. Had a blast! The night we were in there it was packed. I dont remember the piano mans name??? Way too many shots LOL! He did give me his email address so I could send him some pics we took of that night (having way too much fun) When I get unpacked I will post his name. I do remember he is a big guy, 24 years old and knows how to party! I will be posting a full review with lots of pics soon. We had a great time. As Mike stated...the last night was rough seas. We were sitting in the casino with Mike & Mary, we went up to pack and the next thing I know is I am up close and personal with that beast they call a toilet:( I am way to pooped to start my review today. I will start getting it together soon...I promise:D

Casey Posted March 14, 2008 #20 Share Posted March 14, 2008 Mike, yes...Kim #2 was in terrible shape. Ray called down to the clinic. They said they were closed, but if she continued to vomit to bring her down??? Did not make a lick of sense?? Closed, bring her down??? Kim #2 rode it out:( Darin & I are already planning our next trip...Thailand & Malaysia on the Star Clipper. We would love for you guy's to join us. I will be talking to you soon I'm sure:D Now if I could get this photo bucket thing figured out so I can post pics to my review...where are you Mike when I need you? LOL! And I never did see anyone drinking in the jacuzzis, so there ya go!
