Price for Infants ??

My son will be just under 2 when we go and we paid a discounted price.

No you didn't you paid the third person rate. There is no discount for children or toddlers or infants there is only 1/2nd person rate and 3rd/4th person rate.

If a single mom takes a baby on a cruise they are paying the 2nd person rate.

well she wouldnt be a 3rd passanger she would be a 2nd passenger, it's just my sister and my 1 yr. old niece in a room ... thats strange, i was sure they would discount being she is so young

Then if it's just the two of them, the baby gets charged full fare.

Will you be sharing a cabin with Sister and Niece?

Full price is charged for each of the first two passengers in the cabin. If there id more than two passengers sharing the same cabin, then those passengers get a slight discount.

Per person prices for the first two passengers assumes that two passengers will be booking the cabin. This means that if you travel by yourself, you will pay for two passengers anyway.

They will get charged full fare as 2nd PAX. It is still a slot which carnival

could sell to a adult. In addition they make $$$ of the bar tab from some.

This 1 year old will not have a bar tab.

It would be nice to have a child rate...

They are full fair as mentioned earlier. A sole onboard.

I think it sucks from the standpoint that this child will not cost the ship even 1/4 of the average adult, but on the the other hand they won't be spending any money onboard either.

It does suck, but from Carnivals POV they can put two adults in that cabin... so they need to cover their loses!
