mill231 Posted March 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We will be on Westerdam in mid June. We already have a whale watching and helicopter dog sled excursian in Junea. I think 1 more boat excursian is plenty and all that my budget can stand for a family of 2 teens and 2 adults. Has someone been on both? Which would you choose? Bucky3 Posted March 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2008 We have been on both the tours you mention. We loved the Sea Otter Quest tour out of Sitka. We loved watching a whole bunch of sea otters in a kelp bed, a bear on the shore, a whale in the distance, and beautiful scenery. I think your teens would enjoy this and also the Rapture Center - we haven't been there - but there is a beautiful park with trails in Sitka and the town is fun to walk around too. The Misty Fjords Explorer trip out of Ketchikan is just beautiful, but it might be boring for teens as it is a long trip with not much action and maybe better suited for older people. Ketchikan is a fun little town to walk around, visit a Totem Park, see the Lumberjack show. With teens, if I had to choose between the two it would be the Sitka tour that would also allow time for other sightseeing activities as well. Hope this helps and have a wonderful cruise!
