Wanted to book this cruise for April 09 no longer avaliable. We have booked for 30th October this year and wondered if anyone could give me feedback on the expected weather at that time of year in the South Pacific, websites suggests its the rainy season from Nov - April. Does this mean rain all day of sudden showers? how does this affect booked excursions made ahead?

 

Anyone else flying from Manchester for this cruise?

we have been to fp twice, once in may/june and the other time in jan

 

the weather was the same both times, hot/humid we did not have any rainfall either time other than one day in jan when it rained for about 20min and frankly it was quite refreshing (we were on an excursion) we did get a little wt but dried quickly

 

maybe we were lucky, dont know

We have taken this cruise 3 times. Twice in January, once in October. The rain is intermittant. Weather is warm and humid. You might get an occasional shower, but it is a warm shower. And it doesn't last very long. The cruise in itself is wonderful. It is the best we have ever taken.

The weather is pretty much the same all year round. you'll get more showers come December to March, but October is pretty much primo time for the tropics. The showers, when they do come, are warm and locals just carry on as per usual. Average temps that time of year is about 25.5 c. and the rain fall is about 200 mm.

 

Be sure that you check for your roll call. I think it's a pretty active one.

We have visited Tahiti 5 times now. Three times from mid to the end of October twice in November. The first visit the weather was absolutely beautiful the beginning of November, the second time it was rainy.

In the three times we were there in October, once was gorgeous, the other two times rainy. In fact, the last time it rained almost non-stop for half of the cruise in mid October. I think the rainy season came early that year.

 

You just never know from year to year what the weather will be like in Tahiti.

 

As for excursions, whether booked through the ship or privately, they go on as sceduled. The only problem we had was tendering a couple of times to shore as when the rain and winds come up, tendering can be cancelled as it just isn't safe for the passengers in rough water.
