QE2 Titanic memorial April 14, 2008

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was onboard QE2 for the April eastbound transatlantic crossing. One of the highlights (and the saddest of moments) was when we reached the site of the Titanic on the same date that the ship was struck by the iceberg. Below is a link to my photos of this event.

Best wishes, Freckles

As a Titanic buff, and admirer of all things QE2 and Ocean Liner, I am so sorry I had to cancel out of this voyage at the last minute, and miss out on this, and QE2's last leg of its final World Cruise, & penultimate eastbound transatlantic.

BTW, did Cunard give out any souvenirs to the passengers -- certificates, keepsake plates, etc.? If so, I'm sure we'd all like to see pics.

As a Titanic enthusiast myself i was wondering if anyone knew of any plans even at this early stage for any special voyages for the 100 anniversary? if it was sad for 96 then it must be going to special in 4 years? i would guess Cunard are going to host something perhaps?

Thank you for posting the pictures. I am a Titanic buff, and was on the ship for the next to the last eastbound transatlantic, as well. I am glad that I got to experience this, and got to speak with Commodore Warwick. This trip will be treasured in my memories....

You didn't happen to notice if they flew the White Star burgee from the mast, did you?

I have heard it is Cunard tradition to fly the White Star burgee along with the Cunard house flag on April 14-15 as a quiet memorial in itself...

Interesting that this thread was resurrected on April 15.

Gosh, didn't realise. Hope there's a new link available.
